Rent goes down in a recession which benefits renters. There are always winners and losers in different economic conditions which was my point.

I would like to thank everyone for the entertainment. It's been hilarious.

And feel free to denigrate me, abuse me, curse at me, or call me names. Most of you are not important enough to matter. I am in the mood to stir the pot.

Enjoy your day.

I don't understand the opposition here.

I live in Washington State. At least half of my family is right wing conservative republicans. Their votes do not matter AT ALL because the state is a "blue" state.
When i lived in North Carolina, my vote did not matter at all because NC is a red state.
How is that fair at all?

Getting rid of the electoral vote would mean that the PEOPLE would elect the President, which is what we were always taught democracy was supposed to be about, no?

She works for SJSU. She probably is sucking it up to save for a down payment on a condo.

It would create all kinds of opportunities from voter fraud, voter intimidation and other mischief.

She get no sympathy from me. I lived on Long Island and when I retired I could've tried to stay in my house, complain to everyone how bad it is, get booted out of my beautiful home and lived in my car as I couldn't afford to stay there. But I didn't. I made changes in my life which included moving to someplace that fits my budget. Dont blame society that everyone has to live in equally, blame the individual who didn't plan or work hard enough. To be successful you must work and live within your means and if its not enough you have to make changes like changing jobs or locations. NOT do nothing and blame everyone else for your woes.

Making 110K and homeless, she's doing something wrong like living in the wrong place.

Democracy yes, not a democratic republic. You can't have a true democracy where you need 300 million votes cast to pass any law.

So you want your vote to count? Move to a state that leans your way.

The beauty in the design of the United States is that each state was and is to remain as unique to another as possible and you as a US citizen gets to choose the state which suits you best. It's the whole point of the 10th amendment...to keep the states from being homogenized at the federal level.

And there would be no United States had there not been an agreement about the electoral college. Rhode Island and Delaware would never have signed on if elections were determined by popular vote, nor would they have signed on if there were no Senate where every state has equal rights in at least 1/2 the legislature. Small states do not want to get stepped on.

Remember our country'sname is the UNITED States, so the collection of individual states make up America, not 300 million + people in one place, hence the electoral college.

But the whole debate stems from a losing side that would rather change the rules than come up with ideas and or candidates that could win under the current rules that have been in place 250 years.

Sorry, that's a logical fallacy. Let's say that everyone that was in this particular circumstance did move. Now what? That doesn't address the root issue in those local environments. Then you have the influx of problems with those people move because you then likely throw the supply/demand curves off for employment, housing, etc.

Local problems must be addressed locally. The biggest thing that can be done in many of these very HCOL areas is increasing housing density to fix the supply/demand curves.

I was taught that in a republic the PEOPLE elect REPRESENTATIVES, including senators, members of the house of representatives and members of the electoral college.
