Let's see, the last 4-5 days have produced, a student on-campus arsonist, an administrator arrested for watching kiddie-porn at work, a teacher arrested for allegedly having sex with a student, and a teacher robbed at gunpoint on-campus.

Not all that bad when you look at the volume of students CCSD has. You have to remember that CCSD is one of the largest districts in the country. Not making excuses, all these incidents are alarming, but when you look at the ratio of students, employees to incidents it puts things into perspective.

And you can provide a ratio of incidents to students, or employees? Please, I would be most interested in these figures.

I think it is such a shame that we cannot get a grip on this stupidity. Has this always happened and just gone unreported or are we spawning a bunch of horny, angry people these days? What is it? Drugs, alcohol, lack of proper parenting, education, lack of religion? I just don't know. No respect anymore. No fear of any repercussion for their actions. Just plain stupid and innocent people pay.

There is a college campus here, Oakland U, that is closed today due to threats written in 3 bathrooms. Just sickening.

Sorry that Oakland U was closed due to restroom graffiti, but the "deed" has been done in LV schools.

Honestly, I am getting sick of the bashing of schools here. And honestly Sheriff, do you even pay attention to what is happening at schools across the country.
The bad things happening here lately are happening everywhere. Our country is in a funk right now. In fact, it seems the whole world is crazy right now. You can complain and complain all you want but what are you doing to make this a better place to live. I work in the schools and I have met some of the most incredible and dedicated teachers who work extremely hard to give our children the best education they can. I have worked both in the poor areas and the areas that have money. The teachers are just as dedicated at both. The problem with kids today is that the parents are just not there for them. Some have no clue what their kids are doing and some just don't care.
Again stop complaining and do something about it. Be part of your community and help improve it!!!!

The definition of overqualified in this community is anyone who has a GED. So why are we WASTING hundereds of millions of dollars on an incompetent, sick, twisted, dysfunctional system??

Give it up Greg. It is a reasonably good large school system. Outranks all the ones larger than it and many that are not. No where near the bottom which is pretty good performance as size is always bad for a school system.

Now if we agree to fund it a a reasonable number it might even get to be exceptional. Root for the Teacher Gaming Tax Increase.
