The only casino near is Green Valley Ranch and it's very nice, but I don't ever just go there to hang out. Casinos are a total non-factor in daily life unless you need a job at one of them. Otherwise, go to them, avoid them, do whatever you want to do it's up to you.

The wages in LA may be higher but the cost of living is insane. My house would be a $5M house in Los Angeles and it's a $1M house here, so I couldn't even afford to live the way I do anywhere in Los Angeles. Not to mention the quality of life is downright pathetic in LA. If you like to go out, well I hope you're a morning person, everything closes extremely early. I can't count how many times I got kicked out of a bar closing early around 1:05 a.m. and thought, huh, guess I'll go home and watch a movie and drink for the rest of the night since they've decided to call it a night about when grandpa goes to bed LOL. LA is loaded with great restaurants and entertainment, it's just not really ever worth going to any of it because the traffic is terrible.

I will count my blessings that most people like mediocre weather, because I like really nice weather, so the whole 70 degree days in June thing in LA got old real fast. I expect SUMMER swimming weather by June, I don't want to see days below 90, and here, I don't. It's nice and warm every day.

But you're right, if you're a low wage employee who needs a service job or has to deal with the heat every day, gee, guess LA is a fantastic place. For me, my money goes further here and I live like a king.

Most of the summer the heat index in Vegas is below Dallas and Houston. Temperature is higher but the heat index is lower.

Did you live in Dallas and/or Houston? If so, can you share your experience living in TX? How are the people like? Any sense of racism in TX? Is summer more tolerable in Vegas than TX? Which city has better food and shopping?

Been contemplating a move for a while, LV and Dallas are on my radar.

Hahaha this was funny. Now get off my lawn! Actually that’s the only thing that sucks about Vegas is I don’t get to look forward to getting old and yelling at people to get off my lawn because we don’t have those here

As for who says things like that to a stranger - me, whenever you knock my city. If someone says Vegas looks poor and ghetto they obviously don’t live in the nice area and they should be made to feel bad. I don’t go to Chicago and hang out in the murder neighborhoods then say Chicago sucks and is ghetto. There are tons of wealthy enclaves in Chicago, very rich people live there and major companies are based there. But yes there are horrible ghetto areas of Chicago, just as there in Vegas. It’s impossible to have a big city without bad areas because the lower wage workers have to live somewhere, and they can’t afford to live in mansions, so why is it a surprise there will be not-so-nice areas? Lol.

Based on your past posts Jonathan, you have barely lived in Las Vegas so not sure how much weight your opinions hold but thanks for chiming in.
You asked a question and he took time to answer it and it’s not credible enough? Nice.

It's for valid reasons. I agree with OP.

Been contemplating a move for a while, LV and Dallas are on my radar.
People from Houston love it. I am from Dallas and loved it in the '70s. Traffic is horrible in Dallas and Houston. While Vegas is easy to commute, in the three years here, I have seen the traffic getting worse.
Dallas has great food! I prefer the San Antonio lifestyle and culture to Dallas or Houston. I'm a Texan and love my state, but I love Vegas and do not see myself leaving.
Vegas may not be for everybody, My first trip here in 2012, I knew I was going to hate it, in 3 days I was in LOVE and ended up moving here. I figured I would end up broke flying out here 3 times a year.
