Average high is above 100 for 3 months. Peaks at 107 in July. It has gotten to 117 only a very few times over the years.

The 107 in LV is much more comfortable than 90 farther East - I have lived in both. July in Orlando (90F and 80% humidity) is 113 Heat index, in LV (105F and 15% humidity) is 102 Heat index - many discount how much humidity impacts comfort for temperatures.

Yup. And we get some quite high temperatures in late June and early July. The humidity is so low that they are almost pleasant. Later on it gets more humid but the temperature also drops.

Most of the summer the heat index in Vegas is below Dallas and Houston. Temperature is higher but the heat index is lower.

This is so true. I grew up in Houston and I'll take 100+ with low humidity any day.

Five years in Naples, FL was all I could stand. Over six months of 95 degree temperatures and 75 degree dew points made me move to the opposite end of the spectrum (very dry vs very humid). I've been in Vegas about 3 years now and it is by far my favorite place I've lived, vastly superior to Illinois (where I lived most of my life) and Florida.

I actually grew up in a place where summer was similar to Florida - Louisville KY. Can remember playing basketball and when we stopped for a break we would actually form a puddle around our shoes...and the Park lady would come out and make us take salt tables to continue playing.

I enjoyed the 20 years we spent in coastal California. Though we got tired of the weather. Nice days but at dusk it would get too cool and damp to remain outside. Only outside thing that worked was the hot tub. Often have six of us in the spa with Long Island Ice Teas. Made a pleasant evening.

So we are pretty much happy with Las Vegas. Only complaint is that the winter gets a little too cold. But we and our furred ones enjoy LV year around.

Still you know a lot of people don't find it all that comfortable. Someone asks what's good and bad about a place you can't just say ah 107 on an almost daily basis for about 60 days is nothing, feels great.

Always get a kick out of you people, so predictable. For 75% of the country regular temps over 105 is not pleasant. Yeah 3-5 days a summer other cities might get heat waves that rival Las Vegas temperatures in heat index, but those are heat waves not normal daily conditions.

Of course many, maybe even most will never find 105+ comfortable. Though I would point out my furred guys like to lay in the bright sun over those conditions.

And I would point out I have spent more than half my life in the middle and eastern part of the country.

And again you need to get to the normal. Even in Las Vegas we seldom see 107 day after day. It happens and we live with it. On those days you hide out in the late afternoon. But it is still quite pleasant until 1200.

heat in summer causes insane heat to radiate from pavement/concrete at night - the whole of las vegas is paved.


meth heads EVERYWHERE [convenience store, gas stations etc] both sides [east and west] of the strip.


certainly not as wealthy as SOCAL - most workers were either illegal or from the rust belt.


if you like casinos certainly move there [entertainment, gambling, eating out all safest in casinos] if you do not like casinos do not move there.


wages NOT high in las vegas - you can be paid much more in los angeles.
