I just got some text message from lvrj.com saying that the monorail was shut down. None of the websites (LV-RJ, KLAS, KVBC) seem to be saying anything. What craziness is going on in Vegas today? LOL

edit: nevermind, it's back up again....

They should just tear it down. Or at least connect it to the airport.

That's what I'm saying. It pretty much takes you nowhere, never works, very jurky, and cost a lot of money.Been on it once, don't plan on riding on it ever again.

WHy? Is it not a convenient way to casino jump? Darn, I was looking forward to using it when I move there for the times I want to go to different bars, restuarants at the casinos in one night, rather than drive to them.

problem is that it is behind the hotels, they should have built something in the center of the strip

It's OK - but since the stations are so far out behind the casinos on the east side of the Strip, you end up walking long distances anyway. In the time it takes to walk from the front of MGM Grand to the monorail station, ride to Bally's, and walk all the way back out to the Strip, you can just about walk to the same spot directly from MGM.

It's a good way to get to and from the Hilton, at least.

Look this is what they should have done.Sense LV Blvd South has a median about 95 percent of the way they should have just had it up there.Have stops at West Russel/LVB(Airport),Reno,Trop,Harmon,Paris Drive,Flamingo,Buccaneer,Sprng Mtn,Strip/Con.Center,The Con.Center,The Strip/Riviera Blvd,Sahara.

Plus that's more stops and a lot more easier to get to.All they would have to do is build bridges from the sidewalks on both sides of the strip and if there is already ped.bridges(4Corners,Flamingo,Spring Mtn) they can have some type of extension on them.

Best yet would have been to CLOSE DOWN the main boulevard to travel altogether. Have one large pedestrian area with regular subway/monorail going up and down the strip from the airport.

Would be even more interesting to fill up the median with some businesses and restaurants and shops...tiki bars, live music, street musicians, street performers, etc. Cut each casino a percentage of the profit for having it directly on their side out front, and good to go!
