I'm thinking about moving to LV in a year or so. A friend wants to split a place (which I'm fine with initially) and he lives in The Huntridge neighborhood. He likes it. Is it sketchy? Another place he mentioned was the Arts District. I'm all about safety more than gritty. Thoughts?

It's all about where you are coming from. If you used to live in Chicago or Detroit Las Vegas is like going to church bingo. If you are coming here from East Nowhere Iowa, you need a guard gated subdivision and bars on your windows.

Hmmm, I live in Green Bay now and SE Mass for most of my life. The crimemapping site made it look like typical city life, I lived in Boston in my youth and avoided crime. Can you sum up the area for me? Doesn't look like there's many assaults, robberies, or B&Es. I'm coming with a work at home job. What are rents for a 2/2 house or apartments like? Thanks folks!

No problem. I have lived in the Boston area before. Huntridge will be fine. Lots of older cool houses with different stuff like sunken bathtubs. I like them. Pockets of it are good and some bad. But if you have lived in urban areas before it's no big deal!!! Probably would not recommend this area for a 21yo female living alone though.

Just happened on this one. It's only 1 br but 2500SF. For $700 a month. Not a great location though. https://homefinder.com/property/3909...Vegas-NV-89104

Too bad. Sure you are right though. I was thinking it was the whole lower floor of that building. Oh well!

I agree with yellowsnow, kinda neat area with some unique homes. Shouldn’t be to bad an area really. Of course there’s crappy patches no matter where you go these days. My grandson goes to a charter school behind that area on Oakey.

For the price it is affordable for most people. You probably wont find that kind of price any of the larger cities in the west coast.

Coming from the east coast, I also differentiate between types of crime. A friend of mine in NYC left her bike outside on the street, unlocked; it got stolen. Was that a crime? Sure. But it was also easily avoidable.
