That's fine and dandy, but I have no desire to live in TX. Been there and did not care for the vibe and atmosphere. Plus I don't sticky humid muggy air, Tornadoes and hail stones the size of golf balls. No offense.

Lose everything? Yea, If I gamble, which I'm not a gambler and have no desire to **** my money away. First off, If I ever move out of CA to Vegas. I will come prepared with extra money saved ahead in advance and have a job lined up by submitting resumes and phone communication with the employer explaining that I am interested with employment and explain to them I am applying and wanting to relocate to the area. You never move to a complete foreign state and city like a hitch hiker transient, without some money saved to last you to live for a couple months while you get settled with a new job and a new place to live. Common sense.....

Having lived and done business in Texas, I wouldn't give you a nickle for the whole state. My wife is from Houston and she wouldn't go back there if you put a gun to her head. And if you knew Texas like I do you'd see that is possible. I love what skiers in New Mexico have to say..."If God wanted Texans to ski, He would have made BS white." (No offense to my family in Austin, or my friends in Dallas, Houston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Laredo, of course.)

I would suggest getting a local phone# and address to get employment. Most employers want someone that is already in the area and isn't going to leave them hanging if things don't work out.

Please pay no attention to that poster. They obviously moved here thinking that there was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, only to find that, like anywhere, without any marketable skills or education than you have nothing to offer employers so they have nothing to offer in return. As has been said previously, HVAC techs make really good money out here and are in high demand. If the move is made with planning and common sense (as it sounds like you have in spades) then there should be no issues and you will flourish here like many of us do.

Spreading the truth. It's people like you; loan officers/real estate agents that bend the truth about Las Vegas. You want people to move here and buy homes. How else are you going to make your $$$. Why would you care about the unemployed?

I actually do plenty of business without people moving in from out of state.. If you had taken the time to read any of what the poster I replied to has written, you would know why my words towards him/her are less than empathetic. The fact is that there are jobs out here, and if you'd taken the time to read anything that I've posted you would see that I have expressed, particularly in the post immediately following the one you quoted, that if you expect to move to Vegas and find a magical pot of gold at the end of the rainbow then you are sorely mistaken. I don't want people out here that are not willing to take advantage of the opportunity that Vegas affords them. Sometimes that means finding entry level employment, or obtaining marketable skills or education. Your post, on the other hand, absolutely makes no sense. Exactly how will I make money if someone that can't get a job moves out here? So if I lie and say that there are a million jobs out here, everyone hurry up and move out, that's going to make me a bunch of money when they can't find jobs?

On another note, you don't know me and you don't know anything about me. It might be a good idea to figure out who you are talking to before you attack someone's character by implying untruth. I have very likely seen harder times than you and many others on this forum. Have you ever lived out of a backpack or slept underneath an abandoned car to keep from getting rained on? I didn't think so. The opportunities this great city provided me got me off of the street and now I am a homeowner, a business professional, a father, and a husband, and I did it on my own. How? By busting my butt instead of coming on an internet forum (not that I even had access to a computer) and whining like a spoiled brat. You have an agenda against real estate professionals? Fine, but try calling someone else out because I will absolutely own you.

I know the aforementioned has been stated a ton of times already in this thread, but i am still really finding it hard to believe that someone with a great resume and an outstanding personality (and maybe even the looks to match) can't get hired at one of the casinos without knowing anyone.

from what i've seen from a lot of casino employees, the service left a lot to be desired. you'd think they'd be ready and willing to hire those who could potentially make them a lot more money.
