That's a bit of a drive from the OP's address.

A name and location would be helpful.

It's funny, much like most "Indian" food is really British, a lot of the "Chinese" food here in the U.S. comes from a combination of California and NYC. That's the one thing I've really missed since moving out here -- there are serviceable bagels, and okay-enough pizza, but there's no equivalent to the $5 chicken-and-broccoli I used to be able to get in NYC.

It’s not a take out place, but the best “proper” Chinese I was able to find in Vegas was at Ping Pang Pong which is inside the Gold Coast casino.

Their dim sum is outstanding, and their other a la carte dishes are also very good.

You’ll find it’s very different to traditional American Chinese (eg Panda Express), but it is delicious. The shrimp har gow are the best I’ve ever had.

Love Chinese and searched for ages to find good Cantonese. Finally....ithe Chinese restaurant inside the Suncoast on Rampart. They have take out but you must go to the restaurant to order it for take out. Check out the Suncoast website and the name of the restaurant will be on it. The menu is online but unfortunately it is not as large as most other Chinese restaurants. They do have your typical spring rolls, cashew chicken, honey walnut shrimp, etc.

I once ordered from the closest place to where I live near Cheyenne and Durango but was so appalled I haven't tried again in the year since that happened. Can anyone recommend a place for quality food?
If you find any chinese takeout on any block in NYC to be adequate, you definitely are not a food snob, and as unspoiled as one can get.

Finding a place you dislike will be hard. The place you did try and not like must have been absolutely abysmal.

I have been watching videos on Youtube and am going to try my hand at it again. I love a good Hot and Sour Soup, but the soup here is horrible. We bought at a place off of Sky Point, Asian Wok I think, and we took a few bites and threw it in the trash.
Ping Pang Pong in the Gold Coast gets great reviews, or you referring only to the off Strip hole in the walls?

I have found the same thing. I am in 89117 and there is a family owned, seemingly clean Chinese place in the Charleston/Durango shopping center. The people who own it are nice and very accommodating. But, the food doesn't seem to "come together" which should be with spices and cooking methods. It's better than I could make.
Look at how crowded the Bagel Cafe is, just north of Charleston on Buffalo. There are many people, me included, who haven't found a good bagel since Boston/NY or Los Angeles days.
