I absolutely hate the fact that you guys are judgy as hell all i can hope is that none of you ever get to a similar situation as OP's, If you can't help or are contributing anything to their situation then **** off.

OP your father is elderly meaning that he qualifies for senior housing and/or subsidized independent living facilities.
Secondly it seems a lot of the blame is being placed on your father when ultimately this is all on you as the adult, If he's unable to care for himself enough to pay his bills then he needs to be somewhere that will take care of him such as one of these facilities.

I would suggest checking out: https://www.hud.gov/states/nevada/homeownership/seniors

The man is 78. If he can't provide for himself at this point, he should have made better decisions in the preceding 62 years.

Deadbeats don't get a pass just because they're old.

@OP, your father made his choices. Make better ones, pay all your bills, but most importantly: move forward from this.

Put him on an ice flow and send him on his way. He's outlived his usefulness to you.

So first you basically say if you are judgy then **** off.

Then you say, "Secondly it seems a lot of the blame is being placed on your father when ultimately this is all on you as the adult...."

So if your comment not judgy? Or am I mis-quoting you?

Go see a social worker at the welfare office. He will probably get everything, including senior housing.

There is the key problem, which eviction will not solve.

I'm not judging OP i'm going by what he said, His main complaint is that his elderly father is unable to care for himself; In this scenario he is the only capable adult thus the responsibility falls on him to either take care of the home or assign his father to a nursing home/skilled facility that will.

This is all on you.

Dead wrong. The father is clearly sapping off the son and using him to live for free while he blows his cash on smokes. There is nothing healthy about this situation.

Providing for one person instead of two might solve it.
