Since we haven't moved to Vegas yet we visit fairly frequently. Looks like two trips will be lost... errrrrr, I mean postponed due to Covid. However, my plan is to GO BIG post-Covid! Let's start planning ahead for when we get back to normal or close to normal. Dream with me. What will you do? I am picturing myself getting sun at the MGM pool, a morning hike the next morning at Red Rock, obviously drinking a couple of Coronas, losing a few bucks at VP, and ohhhh where to eat!?!? Hmmmmmm.... Oh heck, and I totally forgot, hopefully going to a Stanley Cup FINALS game at the Fortress!

Anybody else planning their next trip to Vegas?

Yeah - in 2023. The trade show I attend is held in January and alternates every two years between LV and Orlando.

I'll be staying in a $200 priced room with over 50% in taxes and resort fees not included. I stand in line for 20 minutes and pay $15 for a coffee and a croissant in the one coffee shop in lobby as the room doesn't have a Keurig. I'll fight for a seat on the show shuttle bus or give up and pay $20 for a 3 mile Uber ride with a driver who didn't understand why there was so much traffic at the convention center. And hopefully I'll be treated to dinner and drinks by one of my suppliers.

Yeah, yeah - it'll be that same in Orlando except for the fact that I won't have spend all day flying.

All this may be in August so plan accordingly.

If the strip does reopen, all of this will be gone. They could get away with it with record low unemployment and record highs in equities, but that no longer will be the case. We will be in a depression, so Las Vegas casinos will have to adapt. This will really be a good thing for tourists as Las Vegas would have to return to its roots, which is cheap rooms and food.

I agree, to a point, and in the very short term. That is, cheap rates and "deals" to get you back to traveling.
However, by 2021 I would expect things to be back to where they were as of just 2-3 weeks ago.

I hope so!

I miss my 2x/year trips. I'm not a whale, but I'm not a penny-player either, and the big properties really got way way too greedy to the point of it being hard to justify my trips.

You know I am way more bearish, but I will not go there in your thread since you want positivity. I will say this, what the casinos can get away will all depend on how the economy is doing at the time. If there was a quick 1 year recovery where the economy returned to where it was at the beginning of this year, I will agree with you 100%. Casinos are greedy, and the more they can get away with, they will.

I am a penny player, so they completely eliminated me, especially with the paid parking which was the final straw.

The human population is all but divided in between Realists, Pessimists and Optimists. I've never been swayed with the optimistic crowd: The basis of optimism is sheer terror. I'm more of a Realist and you'll never see me dropping from skies!
