"If you are looking for crime free then this city isnt for you. I live in the east part of Vegas (near Sahara and Treeline) in a quiet community with very little crime. Crime is a part of this city, and after talking to several metro cops homes in Summerlin and Henderson are broken into more than any other parts of the city.

The real areas to avoid are near the strtip, North Las Vegas, and avoid any streets that start with a letter or number"

And sometimes not worth listening to at all.

And what is wrong with anything I said

First--the homes in summerlin and henderson are known to be worth more, thus making them a more appealing target to thieves

Second, as far as the street names--would you live or recommend living on a street that is either a letter or number--like H street for example? I think not

Take a drive down 6th Street or 15th Street south of Charleston and then you'll see how foolish your advice is, as these beautiful homes are both close to the strip and on a "number" street and are some of the most sought after homes in all the city. Your comment about avoiding North Las Vegas altogether also smacks of ignorance.

I guess you haven't been to the newer North Las Vegas recently. It's the OLD NLV, Northtown to avoid. Please do not lump all of North las vegas as a place to avoid.

True, and I apologize to those that live in the good parts of NLV like Alliante, etc.

I live on the far west side in summerlin and their are burglaries here all the time.
No city is perfect. North LV is certainly changing....checking out the zips is at least a place to start.

Hey, I live right next to the Air Force base. I've always lived in the north east as well, it'll be 13 years this year. I've never had a problem with my long walks home from school. It really isn't that bad, as long as you don't have a nice car because it'll most likely get stolen... lol.

Oh and as long as you don't mind meth heads stealing stuff out of your outside fridge or stealing your bicycles. There are ways to avoid that though, take your bikes inside and lock up your fridge.

Hahaha, man I love Vegas.

My biggest beef with this part of town has to do with only one access point to the freeway. The Charleston exit of the 95 is so overcrowded because of this.

Outside fridge! Hahaha
