No, but I finally called century link because Cox has gone up way too much for me over 3 years. Century Link now has too many people on my "node" they say, I can't get internet from them. My guess is that so many people are cable cord cutting, they just continue and change their internet provider.
So, now I really only have one choice. And if I cancel my tv (thinking of You tube now that it's compatible with a fire stick), they say they will increase my internet $15-$30/mo. They gave me a range!!!

We have had Cox for many years with no issues. It is $45 a month, and that is the regular price with no discounts as we only have internet. It is the starter internet, but it works just fine with the 3 of us in the house. Here is all your cable channels which you can watch for free, so at least you will not have to pay for that anymore.

An impressive offering with one glaring omission: Bloomberg News. That's about the only channel I watch any more.

I can only hope they go out of business - they are the largest (possibly only) isp in Tonopah & they are a nightmare to work with. Anything would be better than them!

COX just upgraded their services. I have Essential. The download speed increased from 30 to 50 mbs. I've clocked it from 45 to 80 mbs, so I think they're still working on the throttles. I do see a definite improvement. My VOIP phone is working much better as well.

Cell phone plans are reaching the point where they could be competitive w/your ISP. Verizon's unlimited lets you download 75G before it throttles. T-Mobiles throttles at 50G. That's for data directly to the phone. With an HDMI adaptor, you should be able to stream movies directly to your phone and watch them on your flat screen monitor (no need for tethering). I don't use a smart phone, or I might be tempted to drop COX. A friend of mine has already dropped his ISP and streams via his phone.

It's part of their CV19 response.

They also temporarily removed their data caps:

"We’ve got you covered. Beginning March 16, 2020 through May 15, 2020 data overage charges will be paused. Customers with Unlimited or 500GB data add-on plans will receive credits for their add-on plan for two bills. During this time we have suspended sales of our data plans. We want to help make sure you have the resources you need to remain productive during the coronavirus work and school closures."

Coax is a shared medium service. The fluctuation in speeds are due to congestion on your local node. When the roads are clear, it's faster and vice versa.

The reality of the situation is that we should have ISP choice but due to monopolies allowed you have restricted options -- usually one per connectivity type. This is where partisan politics and corporate lobbying really has hurt the consumers. There is no reason the Internet is not fast and dirt cheap here in the States.

For example, look at South Korea. From Wikipedia:

As of 2017, South Korea had the fastest average internet connection in the world at 28.6 Mbit/s, according to the report State of the Internet published by Akamai Technologies.[7] South Korea's speed is four times faster than the world average of 7.0 Mbit/s.[8] It is important to note that 100 Mbit/s services are the average standard in urban South Korean homes and the country is rapidly rolling out 1Gbit/s connections or 1,024 Mbit/s, at $20 per month,[9] which is roughly 142 times as fast as the world average and 79 times as fast as the average speed in the United States
