I was able to get yeast from family on the east coast. I'm not sure why we continue to have a shortage here.

It's possible to make your own using fruit but it takes a few days.

What I really need is some mason jars from Target and a sourdough starter from Amazon. Mmm.

The last loaf I made I did my standard mix and threw in pre-mix pizza dough. Came out like french bread.

I had poked around Amazon a couple weeks back but everything was sold out. Maybe they have stuff back in stock now.

I've used both Amazon Fresh and Instacart for Smith's and only had 2 small minor issues where the person got wrong items that were substitutes, but they were ok.

I am sort of ashamed to admit we have done this twice. We are just sick of our own cooking. And all the dishes. After all, one of the reasons I live here is because I like going out to eat. I even enjoy cooking. But I hate feeling like I HAVE to cook.

You will pay an outrageous amount of money. 2 burgers, 2 fries, and 2 Frostys from Wendys are $40. And Wendys is only 1/2 mi from my house. 2 calzones from Cafe Verdi, $45.

JMHO but I will order takeout and pick it up myself from now on.

Papa John's wanted $50 for 2 large, 2 topping pizzas delivered the last time I called, which was indeed, the last time.

Spouse just did an order and pick up at Albertsons on Craig Road. Tried to order 16 items yesterday. Got 14 on order. Went in today and got only 7 items. She has decided not to use them again. Instead she is going to hit the mature hour Tuesday at 7AM. Her belief by the way is that you do not want to do anything with a pickup on Friday...particularly not after 9AM. She thinks they run out of everything on Friday morning.

I received my second Smith's/Instacart order today of about 60 items. First delivery was exactly two weeks ago today. The items that were 'refunded' were things like a whole chicken, a second bag of flour, and yeast. Also, there were three bags of Fritos on my receipt but only two of them made it to my house. Not worth my time fighting over $3.00.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the service. I bought a ton of meat and fish and put my FoodSaver through a real workout today. Also happy to have everything I need to make sausage/shrimp/chicken gumbo tomorrow - I haven't seen Andouille sausage in I don't know how long!

Click on 'specials' on their website. You could've had the same thing for roughly half the price.
