I am a tourist with credit card ready to rock and come to LV the instant this ridiculousness is over..anyone have news on what is NOW open in LV and what the next few weeks will bring?

Not to stir up a standard issue coronavirus debate, but I am sure that after this is all said and done, history will view this as a totally unnecessary overreaction playing into an already germophobic zeitgeist.

Proceeds to stir up a debate.

I don't know sir, you could read one of the other threads in the LV forum that discusses it.

I'm still guessing a mid May rolling opening...
I just can't see every casino opening at once...esp not for the
big players that own multiples like MGM and Caesars/El Dorado
on the strip. The more spread out local ones ..Station Casinos and
local casinos will probably open faster. It will still take awhile to
normalize things.

It's still too soon to call it but from what I've read this week we passed the peak April 18th and we're on a plateau these past few days with declining deaths but not declining new cases. Those have gone back up. We need two weeks straight of declining deaths though to say it's over. They also cited we need widespread antibody testing as another condition to prepare to open. The casinos are already preparing contingency plans for soft opens. Most are taking reservations May 1st and May 15th. Many employees have been furloughed till mid-May too. Some are taking reservations June 1st. Most shows have been cancelled until June too. Buffets will not be reopened when we open.

It looks like we're going to open mid-late May if not by June 1st at the latest.

Do you think nightclubs will be open by June 1st?

A lot of the nightclubs were the first to go and be shutdown for good. They even cancelled million dollar contracts with their DJ's so I don't think so, but it looks like Day clubs poolside will be opening back up this summer.

People will die from this perhaps for years, time to open up May 1st s l o w l y, half casino or 1/3 occupancy for first 15 years, etc. It would be nice if Gov floated a plan.... So much for clear communication to the masses. At least when feds go on TV, you are current if you case to be. Trump, Doctors, etc.

I read earlier this week Las Vegas is looking to the Macau model for reopening since some of these companies have casinos there and they already went through lockdown.

This is the latest article on what it will look like: Jim Murren talks COVID-19 testing, expects slow reopen of Las Vegas

They're fundraising to build a testing lab and partnered with UAE for PPE which has greatly helped local hospitals.

Quote:
"We need to test not 28,000 people as we have today in a population of 3.3 million, we have to test hundreds of thousands of people," said Murren.

Murren said once testing ramps up, so will the strip. He said it will not reopen all at once.

"I think it’s unrealistic to think we’re going to be in June where we were in January," he said.

Murren expects a slow roll out, similar to Macau.

"There are temperate checks at the points of entry to the resorts, people are wearing PPE, they’re wearing masks and other protective equipment. They're social distancing in terms of spacing people on table games as well as on slot machines. Some of the venues are not open such as theaters, large concert venues, night clubs.”
