Let's hope so! But I don't even think that's going to give comfort to some of the terror-filled pandemic extremists I've come across.

I too have heard what IMHO are some of the most absurd theories and beliefs about just exactly what this situation is and where it came from.

Every facet of the problem has been scrutinized- Is it a conspiracy? Did Pharma cause it to make $$?
Did China intentionally create/release this and/or cover it up??

Will it end, or is it here forever?? Even Aliens; yes Aliens! Hey why not? There were UFO sightings not too long ago!

And the statements made by those who have no background whatsoever in Medicine, Biology, or epidemiology (Including myself) about the development of a Vaccine... I.E. "It will NEVER happen...."

I put my faith in Medical Science. These researchers really have no agenda except to solve a puzzle-find a cure. It's what they do. Advancements in Medicine today approach being miraculous sometimes. And after all, Science is really our only hope for a future on this Planet, virus or not. If and when Covid 19 goes away, we still have a lot of stuff to deal with environmentally, economically, and otherwise.

There are bigger problems around then when the Buffet lines can re-open (I'm not a fan of buffets FWIW)
or whether there can only be 3 players at a gaming table...Whatever it takes to get this City up and running to where it should be.

Let's just state the obvious fact that going to Walmart isn't any safer than going to church or a casino.

Nevada is falling behind, we are going to lose our reputation as free thinkers and leaders in freedom that we worked so hard to gain.

We are also going to go bankrupt, $1 million/day in lost gaming tax revenue alone.

Science is about observation as well, not just a narrative or theories and who gets the research grants for touting it.

If you ran a casino, would you have the $1.99 graveyard steak and eggs special that the Horseshoe used to have?

I know some people that work in casinos and they agree with them being part of phase three. Our cases are going down and we need to keep it that way.

Your worst case scenario won't be allowed to happen. The world economy would crumble like nothing we've seen in modern human history. The great depression would be a daydream.

I don't disagree with you there, the only thing "safer" about going to WalMart rather than a Casino or Church is that shoppers keep moving and generally maintain distance (except for check-out lines) whereas worshipers and Casino patrons may stay in the same place for quite some time. Now as to whether that makes an appreciable difference...ID really K.

Wow, I would think the State is /was losing much more than a measly million a day in gaming revenue.

Finally, I would think that "observation" of the virus will ultimately lead to its cure.

Well, I CERTAINLY hope that it won't happen (another even larger outbreak) and I don't know if we can "allow" it to happen or not, except if allowing it to happen means simply opening up everything and everyplace, not wearing masks, no testing, not enforcing precautions, etc. Seems to me some people are OK with that.

If we reduce it by the current protocols then ELIMINATE it through a vaccine, we're home free, which is what I think will happen, the sooner the better of course.

The writing is now on the wall. As I posted earlier this morning, Arizona has now had an all time record number of cases. It had been predicted by many that COVID 19 will not survive in the heat, but it is showing that it certainly does just that. I was reading the politics section, and I just found this.

https://www.city-data.com/forum/poli...oar-texas.html

Quote:
May 13, Texas had 1,636 new cases, a record high.
May 15, Texas has 2,012 new cases, smashing the record set just 48 hours prior.
This surge of new cases will result in a surge of new deaths in about 10 to 14 days.

The rush to reopen is and will take its toll in human suffering and death, there is no denying that.
When you combine this with what this fed insider said, it is very easy to see what is going to happen. Anyone who thinks the shutdown was just a one time occurrence is just sticking their head in the sand.

Quote:
Kashkari, while acknowledging the downside of what a prolonged shutdown could mean for the economy, said the U.S., “barring some health-care miracle,” is looking at an 18-month strategy of rolling shutdowns based on what has happened in other countries.

.
We'll know in June how effective the Oxford/chadox vaccine is and it will be massed produced & available by September, via astrazeneca and its partners globally. That doesn't mean there will be a vaccine for everyone, but by September they'll have jabbed 1 million vaccines into the population, so it's a start.

It has been said that if 80% of people wore masks, coronavirus would largely be gone. Unfortunately with conflicting messages and continual downplay of the severity of the virus by the most influential people (those at the top), it's too late for that. I guess the old adage prevention is better than cure has long been forgotten
