Might make sense to make half of a casino non-smoking, like other countries have done, and slowly transition to completely non-smoking. I think the casinos would suffer if there was a complete ban because of the high rollers.

I forget exactly where- It MIGHT have been Green Valley- I remember seeing the non-smoking section, and IIRC, it was about 10 square feet, with only a few slots- I don't recall ever seeing a section or room for table games that was non-smoking.

And yes, I'm sure the Operators don't want to lose one red cent by driving away the players and guests that need to light up, even in this day and age.

And cigars??!! O-M-G. Sorry, but outside of a Cigar Lounge, where I will never go, there is not much else that can ruin my atmosphere than being within 100 feet of someone sitting at a slot machine or elsewhere puffing on one of those things.

Holy Smoke, pun intended!

I think it might make more sense for a casino operator to have smoking and non-smoking buildings.

Casinos know their customers. I bet they to to three decimal places the percentage of their customers that smoke. That's probably why casinos still allow smoking.

Will this event change that, not so likely.

Now THAT would be awesome.

If I'm going to spend any amount of time in a Casino, I need to launder what I wear as soon as I get home, or I feel like I detect nicotine clinging to me. Gotta wash my body & hair too.

Cigarette smoke is TOXIC.

I'd like that but when it comes to obsessive compulsive disorders (OCDs) they usually travel in groups, thus we see smoking, drinking, and gambling all happening on one barstool in front of one slot machine. In many cases we can add the promiscuity OCD to that list as guys hit on the drink hostesses.

How about-

Separate CITIES for smokers/non-smokers???

We could start construction now! Nothing but bicyclists, walkers and rubber-neckers around. What's a few more orange cones anyway?

1/2- Called "SF Vegas" (for smoke-free), the other" GAASYAO Vegas" (Go ahead and smoke your a** off" Vegas), maybe even seperate "Suburbs" for cigar-smoking!

Simply divide the strip in half, and shuffle the buildings around. Architecturally do-able, ecologically sound. Sure, it would cost Billions, but so what? A few months after Casinos re-open, their coffers will be full.

So true. Its like one of the last places smokers can do it in a public place so they go all out in a casino that allows smoking.

The percentage of smokers isn't the real issue for casinos, what they can't get past is that smokers spend a lot less gambling in places they aren't allow to smoke. I think the drinking, smoking and gambling feed off each other and when you cut off a leg of that stool the spending falls off. Especially when they have to go outside to smoke, they seem to come to their senses and quit at times. Same goes for places that cut off drinking at a certain time, it causes gamblers to get out of their trance and at times stop playing which is why 24 hour drinking in many casinos is another highly defended practice.
