If you can find a warranty that pays more than $1500 or so, please let me know! I can't find one that pays replacement cost.

I bid Good-bye to HVAC last year and went with a Duct-Free Mini-Split, which cools 60% of my house and backed up with 2 Room A/C's. Many in my 55+ community are turning to the Mini-Splits, the Prez of our Board has 4 in her home. What I love the most is they're so quiet you don't even know they're on and labor and parts are guaranteed for 12 years.

My "clunker" was getting too old, 1996, Freon getting harder to find, and to put a HVAC (Amana I was told was the best) and new duct work I was looking at $10k. The mini-split was $4500, and $350 for the 2 room A/C's. And the biggest bonus, my electric bill sunk from $350 a month to a little over $100.

I use an HSA premium plan that covers replacement costs and cranes and such. The only problem is I do not know if they will take new customers. HSA was bought by AHS a couple of years ago and I think they may only be servicing old clients.

Check though - best overall plan we could find...
