I will be on vacation for 2 weeks. I have several flower pots in the backyard. How do I self-watering my plants?

Eventually, yes, but you can put more than one in each flower pot.

Early on we used to bring our pots indoors and stick them in the bathtub. We actually had a water controller under the sink that fed a watering head with 8 lines that water them all daily or whenever.

Later on we simply set up a couple of 8 line water hubs along the patio and programmed them for daily watering.

You can basically do it from any hose bib. Costs 30 or 40 if you do it yourself. Most gardeners will put it together for under a 100.

KD, do you have any trusting neighbors nearby that will water them for you while you are gone? It would also be a good idea to have someone park in your driveway and give the illusion that you are still there when you are not. It's going to get much hotter out there and I don't think the water globes would last that long in the heat. I love them for house plants.

If you use the water globes, make SURE you really soak your plants first...if the soil is very moist when you place the globes it will not drain out so fast. I don't think that would work well over a 2 week period, tho, especially if they're in FULL sun every single day.

I tossed everything and bought a pond fountain pump for $20 on Amazon. The local nursery had a 1/2" to 1/4" tube converter and I used my backyard tubing and bubblers. I bought an $11 digital timer. The pump is in a 5 gallon bucket and I can water as often and as long as I like. For under $40 I have a remarkable irrigation system. Keeps plants watered a week or more, or less when its hot on one 5 gal fill up. If you need someone to attend when you're gone they just have to fill the bucket.
