Circ du soliel and penn and teller don’t really qualify as “culture”
Some feel that 'culture' can only be one of the dead art forms, one in which there is nothing new and for which nobody is willing to pay with his own money.

From the dictionary;

Culture (noun): acquaintance with and taste in fine arts, humanities, and broad aspects of science as distinguished from vocational and technical skills

To clarify; I think circ du sole and penn and teller are “entertainment” ;

the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment. an event, performance, or activity designed to entertain others.

Most of what LV has to offer would be called entertainment, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

You have made my point by mentioning two art forms which are new and fresh and which people are willing to support without any need for government subsidies.

What are you talking about? Governments don’t subsidize museums, most of them are run on deep pocketed philanthropy and entrance fees. A few may have tax breaks or grants, usually children’s museums do.

You seem threatened by anyone who appreciates art or a museum - super strange my Friend

Both Clark and Coronado have more National Merit Scholarships than the entire Dallas ISD. You can probably find a couple of outlying suburban districts that do well. But they will not do much better than the two listed LV schools

For those with short memories: Stimulus bill includes $100M arts funding

Spoiler
includes $25 million to support the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

My husband attended public high school in Las Vegas and is scarred for life.

Other than Henderson, Boulder etc...you should utilize charter schools or private in Las Vegas. It is about safety. He just was trying to survive Las Vegas High and he is a big guy that can hold his own...he does not have a single good memory of public school there.

He does have great memories of Lake Mead and partying, but imho you don't even want your kids to experience what gave him his good memories

Seriously, Las Vegas is not a good place to raise kids like Texas is.

In general, most middle class families send their children to suburban school districts in the DFW area, or if they live in Dallas their kids attend magnet or private schools. DISD is unfortunately a district that largely serves kids from disadvantaged families. There are some notable exceptions......

You simply cannot compare Clark and Coronado to DISD; you have to compare to Plano, Coppell, Frisco, Grapevine-Colleyville, Westlake, Southlake and Allen school districts. There are dozens of school districts that serve DFW, and DISD doesn’t represent middle class families. Its not like Clark County schools that serve the entire valley and all the way to Mesquite.
