Of course you walk down the strip and see the same but I would like to see what the neighborhoods are like. I know it will not be like LA or the strip but would like to know where those neighborhoods can be. Race tradition, religion, sexual preference, interests....all can be parts of diversity. I’m Latino and my wife is white. We have open minds and would love to be in a similar area. Of course it can be tough to find but a place close to this in Vegas would be ideal. I keep hearing Summerlin is great but diverse....maybe not. When we have moved in the past, we have done what you recommend. Staying for some time and checking out the stores and supermarkets is always the best way to catch the vibe. Unfortunately, this is not possible with all going on.
Summerlin is a very nice community. Kind of what you would consider the ritzy side of town. It also has the reputation of being a snobby area. If you are from LA you will appreciate the extra greenery, parks and landscaping. It probably has an OC feel to it, if you were going to compare. However, you will pay for the that through HOA's. I love Summerlin but I am priced out for what I want. I do think it's whiter and less diverse than other areas of Las Vegas. Some of the boundary areas that border it might be a little more diverse but you can be close to Summerlin. Centennial Hills is to the North of Summerlin, so you get the higher elevation and more of a diverse feel. Spring Vallery is a little East of Summerlin on the South side. Summerlin covers almost the entire west side of Vegas so it is HUGE. For that reason, I am sure there are more diverse areas that I am not even aware of. So don't cross it off the list.

If I were you, I would check out Centennial Hills, Aliante, maybe Spring Valley. In reality, you can go anywhere you want fairly quickly. If you really like Summerlin, you can get to the strip in 20-30 min/ or other areas and have that diverse feel you want.

Diversity seen walking the LV strip reflects the visitor population, i.e., not something one may hang their hat on as proof of resident diversity.

Visit if you can, keep researching on here and other sites.

The target area does not fit what I'd expect to see in a 'diverse' population.
And that’s why everyone who has the means to do so wants to live in Summerlin. People looking to spend 1MM+ on a home aren’t seeking diversity. In fact, quite the opposite.

Not much diversity of any type there.
I don't know a single person here who works in gambling, but ok. That's great you think that's all there is, but it really isn't. Besides that, "theater districts"?! WHO CARES?????? Almost nobody cares about plays anymore, they are godawful, and if you want to see some awesome shows, then you can do that on the Strip. MUCH more impressive and enjoyable than your "theater district" nonsense from "back east." And yes, you can find great museums, the mob museum and the Pinball Hall of Fame are way better than some stiff, boring Least Coast museum. Get that garbage out of here.

To each their own; diversity is in the eye of the beholder. Having lived in the DC area for many years and visited theater districts in NYC, DC and Denver there's just no way I can agree that LV has enough diversity to be in the same league. LV historically has a reputation for being a one-trick pony where a lot of people move in for the glitz and move away after a few years due to boredom with the offerings. How many times can someone go see perpetual acts like Wayne Newton, etc. Lots to see and do for a year or two then an awful lot of people need to find something else to fill the time. I've been to LV many times over the years, after 3-4 days I've had my fill and go home. I go for the shows and try to find things to do, have been to the pinball hall of fame, Hoover Dam, etc. LV is a town built around gambling and entertainment (with the necessary supporting economy) and if that is someone's bag that's fine, but when someone asks about cultural diversity then my best opinion is to look elsewhere.

Plenty of diversity here in Las Vegas and Clark County. You can find just about every type of ethnic group here.

You seem to put a really strong emphasis on theater district as part of diversity. I suppose that's a "type" of person but on the list of people that make diversity it seems that "theater goer types" is just one of a 100 groups. Just like "wayne newton, or similar perpetual, show types" is another. Being that nothing puts me to sleep faster than an evening at the theater this is very low on my list. Seriously though I have slept through some well regarded shows in NYC. Snooze-fest!

Joe, a vibrant cultural scene includes theaters as well as the other things I mentioned, like museums, libraries, symphonies, the arts and letters, great universities and hospitals, etc. That's how I define cultural diversity ... something for everyone ... good somethings. Far more than casino life and its shows plus the supporting work in a tourist economy. The OP asked about cultural diversity and IMO there is not that much cultural diversity in LV.

If the OP really meant ethnic diversity, then yes, LV has ethnic diversity. Any of our cities with a metro area population of 2.7M people like LV will have ethnic diversity and a concomitant set of eateries to match. Denver for example has a certain amount of Asian population, which sponsors an annual Dragon Boat festival, Chinese New Year celebration, as well as the expected Asian eateries. Denver's annual stock show in January includes an entire Hispanic rodeo ... diversity of a cultural sort.

I like cultural things (and sports) and patronized them well when I lived in DC and when I lived in COLO SPGS where I enjoyed the offerings there as well as up in Denver. Now I'm in the Phoenix area where I'm hunkering down to avoid the virus and when it's safe I will venture out as long as I'm still able.

So I guess were arguing about two types of diversity, one of culture and one of population ethnicity.

I love Vegas. Just find a good part of town and your quality of life is amazing. I have lived in many places and I keep coming back. You can't beat the weather, no traffic, out door nature and the city if you want it. You can live in the outskirts for a small town/rural feel but be in a big city in minutes if that is what you are craving.

I still believe we are going to see diversity and growth come out of this pandemic. Education and the arts are going to grow as well. Las Vegas is a young city and we will see it happen.
