I mean, I'd argue Baker isn't a great choice unless you want solitude, but their day time highs in the summer months are about 4 degrees warmer only and 4-6 degrees cooler in the evening. So pretty much a wash or better for most people if that's what you're judging it by.

Yes, it can get quite warm. And you will know it because Baker CA has THE WOLRD'S TALLEST THERMOMETER!

Bakersfield definitely a snoozer but Des Moines actually not bad for lifestyle and things to do. Weather though probably will send soft Vegas and California people packing in six months or less.
