I am 65, wife is 63, both active and in excellent health. We currently reside in Florida but were thinking about relocating to Las Vegas. Probably buy a condo. Any suggestions, opinions, advice, or whatever would be appreciated. Thank you for reading this.

We have spent winters in Las Vegas for four years now. We bought our home in 2011. If we had it to do over again we would do the same. For us the decision was the right one. Las Vegas has advantages that other snowbird oriented locations don't have. We are not there for the summers.

In Las Vegas the low humidity makes the heat bearable.

I tried being retired in Florida for about five years but couldn't endure it longer than that. Too humid for too many months of the year. Hurricane Irma hit and I was outta there. Moved to Vegas and love it. I like California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico etc (basically all of the Western part of the US) and Vegas is a great location with easy access to those States.

Don't get me wrong, I like some Central and Eastern cities too (especially New York and Chicago), but I wish I had moved west sooner.

depending where in Florida you live, the housing prices and auto registration is a lot higher in Las Vegas. Everything else is cheaper.

I moved from Vegas to Florida 2 years ago, I'm ready to move back to Nevada. Maybe not Vegas because I love the country living (have an acre of land). I'd consider pahrump, mesquite, blue diamond, or even st George Utah.... I miss the mountain views. No way I would buy the house I sold again though, 3 floor, 2500sf almost 500k now in Vegas. A condo or townhome, I would never consider either.

We moved here from Texas, three years ago and I have never regretted it, even during this pandemic while there are no shows or going out. After 3 years I am still saying "I love Vegas".
You may look at one of the many 55+ communities. Some neighborhoods look great, but have section 8 housing, which makes the neighbors not so nice, or you have a garage band.
We have a clubhouse with different clubs, golfing, hiking, knitting, arobics, billards, bingo, poker, etc. Two pools, gym, 2 tennis courts, bocci ball, baskets ball court, putting green. We are gated and guarded. HOA is pretty good and keeps the place nice, 200.00 a month
Our taxes are half what they were in Texas, but our car insurance is higher, house insurance is half of Texas as we don't have tornados or hurricanes.
We have not had rain in 144 days and the beautiful blue skies, low humidity and sunshine can be horrible
I lived in Coconut Grove Fla. Everyone is different, but Vegas was one of the best moves of my life. It is not for everyone. This Summer was hot, but I love the heat and hate the cold and Vegas heat is not as bad as the humid heat of Texas and Florida. Eight months of the year I have my doors open. 2 months in Winter and 2 months in Summer they're closed.

We moved here as retirees in 2017 and LOVE it. We live in a large 55+ community in Anthem. What I like about it is the many choices of clubs and resort-style facilities. There are 55+ condos nearby that are not part of our community. But we also have “villas” for those wanting more maintenance free places.

There are great communities all over Las Vegas. Summer weather is hot but bearable. Fall, Winter and Spring are absolutely heaven.

As much as I love LV, I would venture to say that health care is superior in many parts of Florida. Waiting times for appointments tend to be excessive. Quite a few doctors we tried out didn‘t appear to be terribly qualified. Most of our neighbors have signed up for concierge type primary care doctors.

For what it‘s worth, we do have one of the nation‘s best hospices (Nathan Adelson).

I will STRONGLY agree with the healthcare. My care for cancer has been exceptional here in Florida
