250 is sufficient for most shows, just need to be strategic at breaking things up into different rooms. Will companies and their employees be willing to get on planes and go to meetings is another question. I think this is the necessary first step, sort of like why are some sports saying you can have 10 or 20% attendance. It's not enough to make them a lot of money or change the atmosphere, but it is something that lays the ground work to start getting people to attend and then as time goes on its hoped that attendance grows.

I want to visit Las Vegas for Christmas and stay at a nice hotel, but I haven’t been reading good things about the Vegas strip lately.

You mean like instances of these? Two in one day and right down the street from each other! And this isn't even the actual "strip".

Can you say "Wild Wild West"?

It's not perfect but I would say generally speaking you are fine on the strip. When you get a few blocks off the strip, in the middle of the night, it's not ideal to be walking around. On the strip you are fine pretty much 24/7 in my opinion and yes I have been there a few times since reopening.

Those are far from the Strip. The crowd has definitely changed in the hotels and walking around, but I wouldn't let it scare you off. Most of the crimes that have caught media attention were between people who either knew each other or seemingly looking for trouble. Guys who got into arguments on the street leading to trouble seem to have increased, but they have been happening forever.

For the average tourist things really haven't changed much. The crowd walking the Strip has been in decline in terms of "quality" for quite some time, not just for potential crime, but just annoyance. Any man walking alone or without women in his group is going to get harassed multiple times by people trying to take them to a Strip club, the guys selling CDs or whatever useless items are going to bother you at random spots and there are lots of people who are either homeless or try to look like it out there begging for money. But walking in any major city these days you find annoyances, I think on the Strip we all were lucky for a long time that the most annoying thing were the card slappers.

Thanks! I plan on sticking to the strip, I’ll be by myself so I don’t want to go far. I’ll see how things look in a month before I book anything. I really want to stay at the Palazzo/Venetian or Bellagio.

What does everyone think about the new Wynn measures?

I like the technology angle as part of the safety measures. This one paragraph from the press release that impressed me as a safe way to expand the opening:

Imagine the following: Lionel Richie is playing at the Encore Theater at 7pm. Between 12pm and 4pm that day, you and your friends each provide a saliva sample at our on-property testing centers. The barcodes are scanned and you download the free UMC app and go about your day. All the information is hosted by UMC and the data is private. When the test results come back at 6pm, a negative test triggers a green light on the app and you can attend the show. And because the same process will apply, you can also head into a securely populated convention the following morning.

It isn't normal, but that kind of thing can happen anywhere. The first one it appears to be they knew each other or something like that, the second one, the bad guy was shot, no one else. It doesn't even apply to these examples, but if you go about your own business, you have little chance of getting involved in something like this.

I actually think right now is a great time to visit Las Vegas, or pretty much anywhere else. Far better now than when it's overcrowded.

Visited the strip yesterday afternoon with my teenage son. Wanted to see the fall display at the Bellagio Conservatory. The Conservatory was nice. Unfortunately everything else was depressing to see/watch. Not many people at all in any of the places we visited. MANY businesses, restaurants, and store fronts still closed or shuttered. The business that were open had barely any people inside of them. Watching people over at the pool areas of different hotels all wearing masks. The casino areas were pretty empty and saw dealers and pit personnel wearing both masks and face shields. The normal Vegas excitement is surely lacking! Saw a few homeless and questionable folks wandering around in front of some of the properties. I left the strip more depressed than when I got there. I might be in the minority, but I didn't enjoy this 'visit' (with the exception of the conservatory) at all. My son even mentioned that is was downright eerie.
