So, more millions of people will be moving to Las Vegas soon along with more new kids, but are there any plans for a new university campus? Vegas is running out land soon, at least there should be another new university campus to replace the old Las Vegas campus. Let's build it from scratch again, while improving it to top-100 nationwide, before it's too late.

If no plans at all, does this mean University of California, Riverside will be the prime-destination for most Vegas students after high school?

I personally would love to see a state university. I'm currently a student at WGU, which works for me since I prefer learning online and the tuition is super affordable and everything is self-paced. I remember the first university I went to was a state university in California. Was such a great experience. We already have UNLV. I don't think it would make sense to build another campus. So many people complain about how expensive UNLV is. Would make sense to build a more budget-friendly university. There is College of Southern Nevada but....it's like a community college isn't it?

But, it's such a small campus that was originally built at the wrong place and at the wrong time. Their ratings continue to suffer because of this stigma attached for being too-small, and it's not a research university. They cannot expand it anymore because it's already built-out. It's now time for a brand new University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus, maybe build it in North Las Vegas empty land area, to replace the old one.

An expansion or new location would be nice and would make sense. But what would they do with the current location?

Nevada State College is in Henderson.

https://nsc.edu/

All they'd need to do is build upon that.

They can hardly get the funding for the two new medical schools in Las Vegas. I doubt we'll see any new public universities, but we could see some small private ones move in like an out of state law school could set up shop.

I agree that a good spot for a new university would be in North Las Vegas where there is still many open lots and empty land. I don't know why they don't put new developments in these areas. It just seems like so much space going to waste.

We could also use another trauma hospital in the valley for the size of our population. Preferably in the North where the gang banger live so they have a better chance of survival instead of being transported to UMC.

Could that be the issue?

I'm guessing lack of direct highway access to North Las Vegas.

They have hospitals in the North that are closer. They just need to be allowed to up their trauma level certifications to be able to handle it. Part of the problem is they get denied by the board for it. When cities with a comparable size to us have 2-3 correctly certified trauma hospitals to handle the population.

I was more pointing out that for general development, there's not a direct route north.

There are level 2 and 3 trauma centers in Las Vegas. Is there a need for another level 1?

Default Definitions of Hospital Trauma Care Levels

For those not familiar with the levels of trauma care, here they are:

The American Trauma Society describes the five levels as:

Level I: The center provides total care, from prevention through rehabilitation. These also offer a teaching program for medical residents, as well as ongoing research. (IIRC, Level 1 also includes a burn center.)

Level II: The center is similar to a Level I trauma center but doesn’t necessarily offer teaching or research. Both Levels I and II can treat either children or adults.

Level III: The center is smaller than Level I and II centers but can provide prompt care to injured patients.

Level IV: The center can provide trauma care and life support before patients are transferred to a larger, higher-level trauma center.

Level V: The center provides initial evaluation, stabilization, diagnostic capabilities, and transfer to a higher level of care.
