if your vehicle is paid off, why would you sell...just because the registration fees and insurance? I find that crazy... you will need a car and the scooter won't do

So I have thought long and hard,
1 Groceries: I'll use instacart grocery delivery services, delivers door to door at 100 USD a year
2 Doctors Appointments/Dental Appointments, twice a year, I'll use Uber, 20 bucks per ride
3 Driver License Renewal, DMV, once every 8 years, I'll use Uber or Lyft

I don't travel, don't go to the gyms, don't have dependents or girlfriends, are not interested in the strip, do not like the crowds, do not go to restaurants.

Is there any other occasions that you think I might use a car for? I would love to have more people think for me xD I know that giving up your car is a huge sacrifice, but I can't think of any activities that I need a car for before the 3 aforementioned ones.

I do not have a job and am basically retired.

Have you ever seen the sights around Vegas, i.e. do you enjoy nature? It's not a long drive to lots of beautiful places not far from here. Been to Mt. Charleston, Hoover Damn, Grand Canyon, Zion, Valley of Fire etc? What do you do all day? I work from home and am sick of being stuck in my house all day because of the pandemic. I can't wait to get out and go do things that all require having a car.

I'm like you in many ways, I don't go to the gym, don't have dependents or girlfriends, not interested in the strip, don't like crowds, and don't go to many restaurants.

However, I like walking around the Strip, I like the architecture and the lights at night. I do want to go to restaurants again occasionally when it's safe to do so. I get tired of cooking dinner every day.

Is there anything you can do to occupy some of your time and make some money so you don't have to be so concerned about having enough money to do some enjoyable things in life?

I guess if you only want to get out now and then, you could always rent a car for a short amount of time.

It points to a dilemma for various older, or retired or disabled Americans, so I will speak for myself, but I suspect I'll be close to the nub for our O.P. and any number of others.

I've had my fill of life's gaudy baubles, fancy resorts, broadway plays, cruise ships, museums, pro sports, airports, and big city frills. Thus the LV strip, glitzy miracle miles, hot spots, cultural clusters, theater districts and roaring crowds hold little allure. I'll take my shows, plays, movies and sporting events at home on pay per view. Besides, with my aging plumbing I have to leave my seat and go to the rest room 3 times during a movie, so bah humbug on $8 bags of popcorn, crying babies and thoughtless weenies on their cell phones.

But most oldsters need what big cities have to offer, lots of medical facilities and specialists.

The rural life may be attractively dirt cheap but it lacks the medical facilities and transport options many of us need, thus we stay in urban areas and seek to pare costs where we may. Many rural areas are becoming "food deserts" since big supermarket chains won't build there and choices are limited to dollar stores selling garbage that cause obesity and diabetes.

Many of us oldsters are fortunate enough to afford some urban areas but millions aren't.

I retired in 2010. In August 2018, I took a part time job that has turned into a full time job due to Covid. I sell home theater audio/video equipment - business is booming. In 2019, my commission only income was so bad I almost quit, it wasn't worth the time and effort I was putting into it. In 2020, I'm doing better than I thought would ever be possible. It seems lots of folks prefer to stay home and watch TV these days. I think the trend will continue to some degree even after Covid is under control. When one person gets a nice system and their friends see what's possible, they want one too. A lot of my new customers are from word of mouth referrals.

There's a little saying I have when threads like this pop up.

No car, no Vegas.

Vegas is auto-centric. Life in Vegas works very poorly without a car. The combination of the weather and the architectural topology really demand having a car. You're putting yourself at a huge disadvantage without one. Enter rethink this move, or make a move to a more pedestrian friendly city.
