Hi, I'm new to the forum and my wife and I are considering moving to a 55 and older rental complex in Las Vegas.
We have looked at a few of these during our visits. One we did not visit yet is called Villa Monterey, just south of Charleston near downtown. Does anyone on the forum have any info or experiences about this facility? OR, any knowledge about the area. Its a gated set up if that would make anybody feel safer.

Thanks, Roger the Dodger

That area is not as safe as some of the suburbs but is livable. Tends toward lower middle class in the area but if the place is OK it could be all right.

If you think yous may go for it you might drop a DM to yellowsnow who lives in a nearby area if I remember correctly....

Has a lot of pretty awful reviews on Yelp and the Apartment site. Unfortunately these are mostly the maintenance complaints that most lower cost senior places have. But I would urge caution.

Thanks, I thought I would get a reaction like this. If it was an elite place in an elite area, the price would be double or more.

We are also looking at buying a Manufactured home. There are some good deals for the actual home. Lot rent is up there, but some of the parks seem clean. Looked at Viila Borega on line. We actually stopped at Cabana by Sams Towns and the Meadows on Valley View. Both had their pluses and minuses.

Default Manufactured Home for 55 and over

Hi, I have been looking at some manufactured home parks for 55 and over people.
Anybody got any favorites, nightmare stories or suggestions?
Looking at the Villa Boraga on Lamb. Drove by it and it looked fine. Thanks again everybody.

Hi Roger
I have no experience regarding mobile home parks. But if I were looking at that type of home, I would look on the west side. I know there are some parks west of the strip but I don't know if they are senior-only. But maybe there are senior sections in them.

Desert Inn Estates I & II, Cabana/DI, are 2 mobile home parks where you own your own land and trailer, with very reasonable HOA dues, but not sure if they're even allowed to rent out any units there.

I live in Desert Inn Estates I. It is a family park with some rentals available. Desert Inn II and III are senior parks. I believe they both may have some rentals also. Desert Inn II looks pretty nice, but there are some disgruntled posts from the residents on NextDoor.com. Desert Inn III is VERY nice. I sometimes wish I'd purchased there instead but we have invested too much time, money, and sweat where we are so we're staying put.

We once went to a 55+ manufactured/mobile community called El Dorado Estates because the owner was going into hospice and we were picking up his dogs to bring to our rescue group. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the place. It seemed very nice.
