Black top vs concrete roads? I lived in the Midwest and the roads are much lighter on their own back there. Then, road lines and markers are not visible on many streets, severely faded from sun damage/oil/etc. Toss in lack of density with street lights and you've got quite the trifecta.

I agree with this topic, it seems very hard to see things like unpainted medians for turns, and lane markings at night unless they are brand new, also, it's like the headlights of other cars give off this different glow than I'm used to.

Come to Tucson, where we have a telescope atop the mountains here, and the lighting is kept to a minimum in the city due to the telescope.

There's residential streets around my area where there's not one street light, and you're dependent on porch lights for lighting. But being I have night vision and bright lighting bothers my eyes, I enjoying walking those streets, a nice vacation for my eyes.

When I lived in Las Vegas due to night vision I always traveled on the far right lane or middle lane.
