Hi all,
we are zoned for Watson elementary in North Las Vegas. Not a great school according to test scores. I would love to talk to any parents who have children going there and get their opinion. Even Lee Antonello (rated high on test scores) is struggling to stay above because of the No Child Left Behind Act. Maybe private school?????

Thanks everyone.
PS I'm also a Detroiter for all of you from Michigan

Move...or get the kid shipped somewhere else. The demographics are just impossible. Transiency is over 60%. That is unlivable with a high minority population. Poor teachers don't have a chance. They get a kid going good and she leaves to be replaced by someone even more deficient.

Antonello is OK. Upper quarter or so. Transiency around 20% which is about the livable level.

Are not transfers automatic after third year of NCLB failure? Have you talked to the school administration.

Hi! From a fellow Detroiter soon to be living in Las Vegas. (I think--for sure my hubby will be!) The schools are my toughest decision. I am pondering private myself.

St Frances de Sales on Michael Way in the northern edge of Las Vegas.

Mother Seton in Summerlin off Buffalo and Lake Mead

Our Lady of Las Vegas on Alta near Valley View

Meadows in Summerlin - Great school for bright kid - expensive...

Faith Lutheran in Summerlin starts at 7th grade I thnk.

There are a couple of others on the other side of town.

You might also note that the twin schools up at the top of Centennial Town are top 10% as is Garehine over off Alexander.

Isn't there a Catholic one? Bishop Gorman or something? Or is that only HS?

High School only. Good school. Same class as GV, Coronado, Shadow Ridge, PV etc. Not academically exceptional like Ad Tech or Meadows.

Almost all of these schools have very long waiting list. I strongly suggest that you get on one ASAP if you think that is the route you will take. Faith Lutheran actually starts with 6th grade and goes through 12th. I would also add Las Vegas Day School to the list.
