Phoenix was $250/day last week so I took Uber. My Uber driver there said he took a customer to a U-haul place after he couldn't find a regular rental car and the dude rented a U-haul van. Lol.

Was Uber always available? I had some issues with having to wait for drivers. I know a lot of drivers at some times were using rental cars to do it, maybe they got priced out?

No problems with Ubers in Phx and also did the same in Miami earlier this week. Wait times were very short/normal.

Yes, good points. For most any shopping experience if you put in enough time you'll find a better deal somewhere. It all comes down to how much time you want to spend. Costco is easy and often among the cheapest but not always the best answer. If you are renting for a week or two or high dollar car shop around!

When you checked on National did you confirm $62 price includes taxes and fees total price? Costco includes all fees and taxes. Might check if so that is a good price. I have found prices change right up to the day I leave I have rebooked 15 minutes before the plane left for Vegas before.

All the aggregator sites show total price including tax for cars unlike what they do for hotel rooms where resort fees are left out. Only time you might get confused is if there is an ad that says something like cars for $10/day, which doesn't include tax but isn't an offer to book a car either.
I'm not a Costco member now but when I was i never was too impressed with their travel site. Only bargains they had were on vacation packages which I never purchase. Their standard booking seemed no better than others on price, which might be required by the booking engine.
