Hi, I'm looking to buy a unit at the Meridian Private Residences. As I did my research on Google about this community, I came across a few startling articles: the developer that did the apartment/condo conversion was sued and the HOA was also under litigation a few years back. Does anyone know if there are any current lawsuits against the HOA at the Meridian? I don't want to become a new owner here and end up paying for something if they lose the case. Thank you in advance for your help!

I think a lot of condo conversions have ended up with lawsuits as have the vast majority of HOAs. Lol. Good for you doing your homework though. You can probably do a parties search on the Clark county court website.

If you purchase a property it is required that you be provided with a list of any legal actions the HOA is involved in. There are a couple of standard issues that often appear though generally not of much significance.

Thank you lvmensch for your response. That's what the real estate agent said as well. But I just wanted to find out ahead of time and not waste time making an offer only to find out later that the HOA is not in a good spot.

Thanks Cold Warrior, I did come across this article in my research as well. My concern is if the current HOA inherited all the lawsuits from the developer and the previous HOA.

I would assume they have insurance for that type of stuff!? I am not an expert in that area but that's just a guess on my part.

I think there is insurance to cover certain lawsuits, but once claimed, insurance premium for HOA may increase, hence, the monthly HOA fees also increases. Also the insurance might not cover the full settlement so the remainder would fall on unit owners
