On the East Coast. But if I was in LV, and needed and Oncologist, I'd go to LA. Find the top specialist at either Cedar Sinai or UCLA. Don't screw around in Vegas.

I would recommend Ann Weirman MD for her kid. Read the reviews but note she has problems managing her staff which I wish she could fix...but I doubt that she can. She is however a very smart techie and is very up to date.

In my case I was clearly a Colon cancer patient and had the active tumors removed. But she correctly steered me to a new drug system just coming into use. I think that saved my life.

Weirman is a techie and not always the best doctor manners. But she will save your life and tell you why she did what she did.

So if it was my kid - Weirman all the way.

By the way I have tried the run to LA a couple of times. Nothing great. In some very real situations I would do it again. But nothing not very exotic. And remember I spent over 20 years there and am very comfortable there. And at the moment we have one thing driving us to a doctor in Phoenix and that may well happen. So if you see someone with a needed specialty go for it. But otherwise stick to Las Vegas.

Not Las Vegas. We have horrible oncologist here. Try LA out. Get out of Vegas for children's oncology. Trust me.

As the others have said, go to California!

Los Angeles (Cedars Sinai, Children's Hospital, UCLA), Loma Linda University Medical Center, City of Hope (Duarte, California), or to UC Irvine (Orange County), or UC San Diego.

City of Hope specializes in Cancer Care and it's not too far from Las Vegas. Here is the website for City of Hope:

If you need help with lodging while in California, contact Ronald McDonald House Charities:

That is pretty much absurd. And you are simply not to be trusted.

I went through the whole colon cancer here 10 years ago. Ann Wierman was superb. After the surgery she set me up on the newest drug regime. I am still here and fully recovered after 10 years. Wierman clearly saved my life.

I have twice tried the LA bit on medical issues. No joy. And note I have lived many years in LA and am at home there. There may well be various pools of high talent for some stuff. But for normal stuff, even the very dangerous you are often better off finding a good local. In fact my suggestion is to go to such groups only on the recommendation of a local.
