It's no Mirage: Vegas Strip revenues declining

May 9, 2008

"Las Vegas Strip casino gambling revenue fell 4.8 percent to $517.5 million in March, the third consecutive monthly decline, as gamblers confronted higher fuel and food costs."

Yep. This is a little scary.

A melt-down scenario would have 2/3rds of the existing airlines out of business with the remaining 1/3 tripling air fairs. This coupled with $10 gas choking off the other business pipeline into Vegas - Interstate 15 from So Cal, will likely crater Strip revenues and cause untold job losses. All of this when we thought housing would improve by 2010 from increased employment on the Strip.

Yup but when the big earthquake hits and CA vanishes into the Pacific we will all get rich off the new beach fronts in the Spring Mountains. It will be better than ever...

It doesn't mean they're going broke, it means they didn't make as much as usual, which is still an obscene amount that they won't share with the state that gave them the right to make all those billions.

I just checked outside...the sky was not falling.
