I have been a resident of Spring Valley for 25 years. I went through a divorce, and decided to go home to Colorado to help with my ailing parents during this time, and be around family. I locked up my townhouse, and just left. No one has a key to check in on it, but I do have a friend that will occasionally drive by and take pictures to assure me no one has broken into it (again!) I have no idea what to expect when I first walk through the door. I think spiders having taken over would be my biggest fear, as I am extremely arachnophobic. I have rolling shutters over all windows and patio doors (learned my lesson the first time). But after 4 years, I am almost afraid to go in first...lol. Seriously. Are there any brave souls that would be willing to walk through with me? My friend who drives by is just a scared as I am, so that's not an option. My handful of other friends have either moved away, or work too much to be bothered. I would prefer someone who is not a transient on this site, I don't want to end up hacked to pieces in my bathtub Thanks!!!

Why didn't you rent it out? That seems crazy to lose all that income. Good luck!

When will you be checking out your house? Sounds scary but I will see if my husband would come with me and all three of us could tiptoe inside.

Or maybe your HOA security people could go in. Do you have a master plan? I used to live in Mtns Edge and they had roving security that would come check out different issues. Might be worth a call. Metro police? Although I've read they can barely make it out to burglaries in progress so maybe not them.

The interior hasn't been checked out in four years? Did you have a way to control the thermostat so pipes didn't freeze in the winter? Dust and air quality could be pretty bad, I'd wear a mask to enter and open some windows asap to air it out. Turn on the A/C to see if it works. Toilets not flushed? Water not run through any plumbing? Good luck, spiders might be the least of your worries.

Open a few faucets before you turn on the water main... Turn off the big breakers before you turn the main on. Watch out for wasp nests, especially under the eaves.

I'd be more concerned about mold than spiders.

All of the water in your traps has evaporated. The house may smell of sewer gas.

Perhaps, call an exterminator company to come out & look your house over when your back in town, before you sleep there.
