Worrisome story in today's WaPo about the Delta Variant.

Excerpts:

The delta variant of the coronavirus appears to cause more severe illness than earlier variants and spreads as easily as chickenpox .... new research suggests vaccinated people can spread the virus .... vaccinated individuals infected with delta may be able to transmit the virus as easily as those who are unvaccinated. Vaccinated people infected with delta have measurable viral loads similar to those who are unvaccinated and infected with the variant. .... a higher risk among older age groups for hospitalization and death relative to younger people, regardless of vaccination status. .... a variant so contagious that it acts almost like a different novel virus, leaping from target to target more swiftly than Ebola or the common cold.

You left out a relevant excerpt.

“It cites a combination of recently obtained, still-unpublished data from outbreak investigations and outside studies…”

Are they using data from the study done in India on a vaccine that isn’t authorized in the US? No one knows because they didn’t show the data, which seems odd if they want to gain support and credibility for new mask guidelines.

The CDC needs to get it’s act together. I know the virus is real, but I’m very skeptical of much of what they say, especially when it comes to masks.

For the record, I’m fully vaccinated as is my family.

This was back in May. It's higher now, but I can't find the article I read giving new numbers.
I read a different data set and have a different perspective. Regardless, I was wrong and have admitted to being so. I apologize for saying that others were wrong. I was wrong and that's all there is to it.

It's not a good thing. The vaccine wears off after a few months it appears. They don't have a new "better" vaccine which I find interesting. They got the first one so quicly and have now had a lot of time to develop something better.

I have my theories.

Treatements that were working like regeneron are no longer as effective or effective at all.

Um, so will the death of the sole driver of the entire Venetian concept. You don't factor that in for some reason.

This story is heartbreaking.

https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-...-hospital-bed/

"LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas father who contracted COVID-19 while on vacation texted his fiancée from the hospital, “I should have gotten the damn vaccine,” she told 8 News Now.

Michael Freedy, 39, a father of five, and his fiancée, Jessica du Preez, traveled with their family to San Diego in mid-July."

He died from it.

The good news is Pfizer is seeking emergency FDA approval of a booster shot which will cover the Delta variant.

I'll be first in line at my Walgreen's . . .

There's a lot of science that we already know with this virus.

There's a lot of science yet to be discovered with this virus.

There's a lot of news about break-through infections, including how we vaccinated people can pass the virus to others.

I will err on the side of caution, wear a mask, keep my distance, stay home and eat at home save for carryout or delivery.

EDIT to add that a few minutes ago I got a text that Florida has reported 21,600 new cases today, it's going nuts down there.
