Hi all, thanks for taking your time to read this first of all. I'm currently moving out of Portland Oregon, for somewhere a little more.... refreshing. I have a culinary arts degree, and am an exceptional cook. So, with that said, given a working interview, I would most likely get the job anywhere I applied. If you where given my position (high demand for cooks), where would you work? I would love to live in a hotel that would give me a discount on a room if that was something that they do.

Also, I smoked maybe 2 joints in the past month, would a weed test be a problem?

I have also wanted to cook in a strip bar, does anybody know if they are hiring cooks left and right too?

Thank you for reading my story, and have a great day y'all.

Default Welcome

You are diving into heaven. There are only 2 or 3 equivalent cities for an exceptional cook.

So welcome. When you settle in drop us a note and we will come and sample your great stuff.

It is also a nice place to live. Not true of the other alternatives.

If I were you, I'd put together a resume and brag book. Do research and make calls to every place you might want to work. Try to get interviews lined up so you are busy with them every day. Book an affordable room for a few weeks and do as much as you can for as long a it takes to land the job. I assume competition is fierce and jobs at the best restaurants are not easy to get, but I don't know that for a fact. There are a heck of a lot of restaurants here! If you can get several offers, you have more power to negotiate your deal. Good luck!

And I agree with movin1. If you dig around constructively you will likely find a couple of hundred opportunities. Then figure which offers a good start. And when well established you can move up.

And it is heaven for high end cook.

Silver Seven casino is hiring. But if you knew you were moving why smoke weed? Yet I think companies stopped testing for weed unless it's a Federal or transportation job.

I guess a good place to start the search is with www.indeed.com

Cooking in a bar on the Strip vs in a strip bar probably has a different pay scale...and fringe benefits.
