Yes. Off the Strip. The Atomic Testing Museum comes to mind. Hoover Dam. Springs Preserve. Red Rock. Valley of Fire State Park. Death Valley is worth it this time of year.

But on the Strip? Trashy, crowded sidewalks; homeless people camping out on sky bridges; "flippers" advertising every kind of big-boobed hooker imaginable; smoke-filled casinos that under 18 can't even enter. Ew.

We started staying at SouthPoint when our kids were teens, because they had a cinema, bowling center, arcade, and plenty of restaurants that they liked. We always rented a car so we could see the strip and other exciting places.

A bit of a negative bias here. There are homeless camped out in most
major cities now, Las Vegas is hardly an exception in that regard. I find most
of the casinos aren't really that smokey and I am extremely sensitive to 2nd
hand smoke...I avoid Texas Station and a few other local joints that are
smoke filled but I wouldn't put the big strip casinos in that category. I find
more of a problem being the smell of the marijuana than anything else.

I wouldn't call Vegas kid friendly per say but it is not unfriendly if you plan out
your itinerary.

Pinball Hall of Fame, Mob Museum, Bellagio Conservatory, Popovich Pet Theater,
Cirque de Soleil shows are my suggestions.

It would not be where I'd be taking kids on a vacation. But I don't have kids, so it's my preferred destination.

Go to Disney.

Thanks, I was trying to think of few places we could go. Atomic Testing Museum would be prefect. My daughter (age 15) is interested after learning some in her chemistry class. Plus my husband was on a nuclear submarine. I have always been interested. We are going to Red Rock for sure. What do you think close to sunset a good time?

We have stayed at South Point It was an excellent experience and I would recommend it. The room was large and very clean.

There are a LOT of fun things for kids in Vegas. And some are free.

1) The Mirage (I think) has a volcano that erupts at certain times. It's fun and nifty neato.
2) The Circus Circus has a midway fair ride area with a Roller Coaster
3) The basement of the Excalibur has motion rides that are so cool.....
4) New York, New York has a Roller Coaster on top of the building
5) Caesar's Palace has the statues that come to life every hour on the hour
6) The fall decor at Bellagio has a forest and the trees talk
7) There is a light show on Fremont Street that kids LOVE
8) Most hotels have upper shopping floors, lots of candy stores

We took my kids when they were 12 and 14 (girls) and they LOVED it. My youngest is now married and she and I have both gone back several times.

We are all Las Vegas fans. My trip is booked for March 2022.

Even better: Just after sunrise. Yes, I know: kids. Make 'em get up LOL. (Morning will be less crowded.)
