My air conditioner is on the roof. The drip line runs from the unit down to my steel patio cover. It is just plain old PVC pipe. Every year I have to pay someone to reattach it. It always falls off the unit itself. I guess from the wind. Is there something different I can do or a different product I should try? Do you have to put yours back on every Spring? Is it because of our hot summers?

Thanks!

It sounds like the "glue" fails due to the sun/heat. One would think there is something that would work. Maybe a threaded coupler instead of a glue joint? A good plumber or HVAC technician should have a solution if you tell them you are tired of having to fix it once a year. Or maybe that want you to have to fix it every year, lol.

As Movin1 stated, a threaded PVC coupler should solve the issue if it's what I'm picturing in my head. Not sure why they would glue the drip line, especially being in a high heat state. If it can be secured in other places as well it might be a good idea to do so. A local ensured and bonded handyman should be able to take care of it for you.

Sounds like poor quality workmanship. PVC glue literally melts the two pieces of pipe together. A properly glued connection should be extremely strong and not be affected by the ambient temperatures here.

They do get scummy, and need to be cleaned. Can be impossible to clean if they are all glued....but you can put a cleanout in it for a few bucks.

This, I've never had any issues with glued PVC in our environment.

My last AC install was in Bangkok, and they used electrical conduit. Didn't ask their reasoning, but it worked great..dripped about a foot off a 19th story condo balcony.

I've had contractors fail to apply the clear primer prior to applying the purple glue; others who apply glue with no primer, and others still who apply neither primer nor glue ("the joint isn't under pressure").

I've installed quite a few ac units and swamp coolers here over the last 22 years and never had a line come apart. Serious.
If you want it fixed right, DM me and I'll do it. I get so mad when something as simple as that can't get fixed correctly.
