ey everybody... I'm a 24 y/o college grad living in New York City right now and I'm interested in spending May-August (or June-August... not positive yet) in Las Vegas. I'm keeping my apartment in NYC, but I had some general questions regarding vegas life, etc:

I also just moved to Vegas from NY,, that area is probably not the greatest of areas, but it is ok, it is probably about 2 miles from the strip and about a mile from Hard Rock,, you can survive without a car but you probably have to take a bus which might delay your trip to the strip but it shouldnt be that bad, stores and everything are probably within walking distance

Personally I wouldn't move in that area. It's not very good at all. I'm sure you could find something in a nicer area that isn't any further.

Well, it depends on how you plan to get around the city. It's not like being in NY where public transportation is everywhere and isn't nasty. In that area you are not necessarily in walking distance to the strip, especially in 100 degree temperatures - unless you want to arrive to work needing to take a shower from sweating. If you plan to take a bus, keep in mind that you will be waiting in the sun in 100 degree temperatures for the bus (their "shelters" are pathetic, dirty, vandalized most of the time). Also, the bus isn't so safe - it's mostly poor people that take it. I've seen the people boarding the bus and I wouldn't ride anywhere with them.

I take the bus in the wee hours in the morning and take it in the afternoon for an hour each way to get to and from school. The bus is ok and I feel plenty safe. The drivers will usually help you out too, if you cant find something. Over there the bus comes very often, so you dont have to wait too long.
