All I can see when I went to the strip this weekend was "PACKED!" I had some friends in town, and we went out for the night and it was very busy. People are still comming, maybe not like before, but they are still here.

"PACKED" it was. After me and my five friends "PACKED" into our $105/night room at the Flamingo, we had to wait 20 minutes for our $2.00 beers at O'Shea's. After that we had to wait 20 minutes at McDonald's for our 99cent menu purchases. What a bummer, the FREE pirate show at Treasure Island was cancelled. We sat in front of Margaritaville for hours, and people watched. LV is so, so KEWL.

Las Vegas Strip Casino Revenue Falls for Eighth Month

Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Las Vegas Strip casino gambling revenue declined for the eighth straight month in August as cash-strapped U.S. consumers curbed entertainment and travel spending because of an economic slowdown.

Gambling proceeds from the Strip fell 7.4 percent to $494 million in August, Nevada's Gaming Control Board said today. Casino revenue at the largest U.S. gambling center slid 6.7 percent to $4.21 billion this year through August as U.S. consumers struggled with higher gasoline and food prices, declining home values, job losses and the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression."

Gambling revenue SLID to 4.21 BILLION this year through August

4.21 BILLION?

Somebody needs to tell all those who contributed to that dollar figure of REVENUE for this year that this country is in a recession, don't ya think?

I mean, nobody is coming to Las Vegas anymore and we're going to sink into the desert from whence we came..right?

Default not that bad

I guess its a fact that the economy problem has hit Vegas, but the mainstream media loves negative news. I don't think or see it as bad as they say. I have to spend week nights in certain casinos. last night ( Monday ) The Hard Rock was packed, 88 % sold for a Monday is real good. Bars were packed, body english club was turning people away. Wasn't quiet thats for sure.

Default slow

For about 1 month now our business has slowed considerably over last year same time. It happened rather dramatically when the stock market started going haywire. Also UPS is laying off and our driver said his delivery's have gone down big time. Most of our customers have cut back on $$ amount in spending. I think that is the key...yes people are coming to Vegas, but spending less, and we don't see that just driving down the strip.

I agree with you jlady...not too long ago, I believe Channel 3 news did an interview with tourists on the Strip asking questions about if they got good deals, was their spending cut back, etc..

Most of the reponses were that no matter what...they were coming here and were going to come again, but they're definately spending less money on the food, shopping and shows and saving it for their gambling.
