hmmm, i have not had problems with lines at the Jones/Flamingo DMV, they have so much parking there too...and I have never had a headache with the post offices on Bermuda/Pebble and LVBS/Wigwam (inside Dollar Bill's, never a line and speedy service)...now the PO on Sunset/Paradise is hell...and so is the DMV in Henderson...

Social Security card - no good.. mine is laminated... just got it before i came here, it was on very thin paper so i had it laminated..

I think this is BS... I had proof of my residency also...

Only one thing worse than the DMV, the post office on Jones and 215.
And, your "beef" is------what?

How do you know if it is a govt seal or a state seal? My husband will be out there for about 6 wks before I come out, I am assuming he is going to have to go do this also so I put his BC and SS card in an envelope for him but now I am thinking his may only be the Ohio seal also. He will be driving a co. truck so he won't need plates but he will have to change his license, I'm sure. His SS card is falling apart too. I think it is stupid that you can't laminate them but I did read that on there.

We won't have much furniture in the apt until I come out and yet the probability of him losing them is still great!

What is a NV seasonal ID? I was wondering how that would work if you lived in two places? What do the snowbirds do? Keep the one that is considered to be their permanent ID?

I guess what I am trying to get to is our MI plates expire in Jan. I consider that we already paid for them so I don't really wish to renew them until I have to but I don't want to get fined if you are supposed to do it within a certain time. I am not sure that we will be out there longer than it takes to finish the City Center project, but if we love it we may just stay. Then there is the issue of getting the new drivers license. I suppose if I want to find a job there, I will need a NV one. Not sure what is the best/right/cheapest...way to handle this.

The DMVs here are not much better. Neither is the SS office. The PO here in my city is wonderful, but not all are. Something they know we have to deal with so the customer service does not have to be above par.

You have 30 days to get your DL and to transfer your plates. Even though your plates expire in Jan. you still only have 30 days to transfer them to NV. We had just renewed our MI plates in March and moved here in June, that was a big waste of money!!!
