Ladies and Gents,

They are no jobs in Vegas. If by a miracle you find a job, be happy you make $8.00 an hour. Do your research.

If you move here without a job transfer, job offer, you are going to hate yourself.

If you have tons of money and can afford not working, by all means do what ever you want.

Many users on this forum are agents. They tell you everything is terrific in Vegas.

I made this mistake a year ago. I bought a home , moved my family to Vegas, and couldn't find employment for 6 months. It was a hard decision, but I had to relocate my family out of Vegas back to California so I can find work.

Don't make the same mistake I made.

Oh for heaven's sake, I would *hope* nobody did what you did, buying a home and moving the whole family ANYWHERE before you got a job!

many user on this forum are not agents and will still tell you about the positives of living in vegas. i 4 one have no vested interest in anybody moving here....but i will be more than glad to discuss why i like it here.

but i do agree that you should have a job lined up or enough savings for a couple months before you move here.

Just because you could not find a job, does not mean others won't. Some people actually have money saved to weather the storm before they move somewhere if they don't have a job lined up. Things are what you make of them! EVERYWHERE! PERIOD! The jobs are there, It just may not be the exact job you want. That's life.

I've never had a problem finding employment here.

This has always been the place people came for jobs and cheap food and housing. NO MORE.

When Lake Meade runs dry Vegas will too.

You've been in Las Vegas for 30 years and you still can't spell Lake Mead?

The unemployment rate was worse than this in the 70's, and twice in the early 80's, and twice in the 90's. Not that it's good now, but it has been worse. Even with the high unemployment rate the economy is still doing all right. People are still spending, hotels are still being built and thousands of new jobs will be coming on line with the new joints that are going up. The problem is that banks are being overly cautious now and holding onto their money. It's hard to get money for business expansion or even buying homes. Sooner or later they will realize that they are still in business to make loans.

Our expenses have been going up and up for 20 years mainly due to the invasion...er, I should say, growth...mostly from California. Two other things started happening in the late 70's. The mob used to practically give away food and entertainment to get people to gamble. Showrooms, bars, and restaurants were loss leaders. Then corporations came in, realized this is a resort, and tourists are used to paying high prices at resorts. So the price of everything in the casinos went up, and every concession had to start making a profit.

If the U.S. economy gets better, the Las Vegas economy will get better. Where you gonna go that isn't in the same boat?

Hey Buzz brain. Ya know when someone runs out of unemployment they are no longer counted. Doesn't mean they're employed.
