So I was running around getting grocheries and the wife mentioned a Scrapbooking and Bead store in a strip mall, so I turned around so she could check it out. I pull in in front of a butcher shop by accident. On Horizon Ridge between Valle Verde and Arroyo Grande called Branded Meats + Deli.

I was quite impressed after a talk with the owner Gary. There normal steak selection is upper end choice and they have prime cuts as well. There Chicken is all free range and they get seafood in twice weekly (Sat and Tue/Wends). They also have all sorts of game, rabbit, duck, etc. All in all a great place. Of course, all meats are cut to order... Gary gave me his card and told me to call on the way home from work if I ever needed anything and they would be glad to cut it and have it ready when I came in.

Prices were also very good. I just thought I'd pass this along.

I didn't see any out, but he had a lot of meat in his back walk-in-cooler. There was also an extensive selection of flavored smoking chips avaliable, so I would imagine he'd have a bone-in pork shoulder.

Used to be called "Prime Time Meats" only problem I've run into with Branded Meats is selection. Seems like every time I go in its the wrong time, hardly any meat available. I agree thought, the owner is very nice! Prime Time used to have the best ribs in town, but since Branded took over I've made 4 trips in to pick up some ribs and every time they're out.

Seems like a phone call before going over would be best. I agree with Jim - I would seem as though there ribs are still good even if they don't have them in stock. Gary must just have a supplier issue or he might only accept the meat if it is up to a quality that he likes?

Could they be called branded meats because they came from rustled cows?

BTW: Are free range chickens really at home on the range, and do cowboys have to herd them?

BBTW: Thanks for the heads up on the butcher shop.
