That place is pretty industrial. It is livable but you can do better if you are planning on paying 1200 a month. Probably a reasonable condo in a nearby or similar area. I presume the kiidies are still pre school. Given your circumstances you should probably head further west...south strip or Silverardo. You ain't going to find employment in that end of Henderson.

Drop em a DM and I will see if I can find you a good set of condos etc. to look at.

the Admiral is going to kill me...we do not have time for this stuff.

Well, thanks for the input so you are pretty much saying I will get minimal employment does that mean minimum wage? My son starts kindergarten this year. Is the school in that area bad? The place where I am staying is that near Green Valley?

Perhaps a little quick discussion up front.

You need a little help.

The quality of the responses is dependient on how the questions are phrased. Phrase carefully.

For our general view on moving to Las Vegas...

Welcome to Las Vegas

There are no areas in Henderson where you would have trouble with the elementary school . In fact in most of the suburban areas you will be fine.

Minimal employment implies you will not get rich in your first job. Note though that Las Vegas generally pays well above minimum wage.

Note also that "Bouncer" is an honorable profession here and if hubby is good he will do reasonably well...particularly if he is a hunk or a hulk.

Thanks for the information. I don't plan on getting rich in mu first job but I definitely do want to make more than minimal wage. Also I believe my husband will do better in Vegas. He is great ay bouncing he has done it for more than 15 years and yes he is a hulk and a hunk to me. He is 6'3 300 pounds of muscle. So with his experience and size it sounds like he will do ok. I do appreciate the information thanks again.

40 yars ago if I wanted to gamble I had to go to Nevada. 35 years ago Atlantic City, NJ opened to gambling. Then came the river boats followed by the Indian Casinos and now the internet. Presently there is a casino within one hours drive of almost everywhere in the United States. High air fares and a new distaste for flying and clearing US Customs will discourage foreigners from going to Las Vegas. In the short term I predict that there will be many bankrupcies from the smaller casinos and in the very long run Las Vegas will become a ghost town.

Yes, but people come to the Las Vegas casinos to do much, much more than gamble.

"Riverboat" or "Indian" casinos don't typically have the acts, the amenities, or the variety of non-gaming things to do that Las Vegas casinos do. The vast majority of their revenue comes strictly from gambling - the amenities themselves do not make profits on their own (gaming pays for everything - p&l is based on associated gaming revenue, not cash covers, because there's not enough cash business to support the amenities at all).

It's not a matter of "where am I going to gamble", it's more of a matter of "what kind of resort experience do I want, that might include gambling". LV competes against other resort and vacation options, not against non-vegas gambling. Non-vegas gambling competes with other local entertainment options - do I want to do dinner and a movie vs. going to the boats tonight?.

Long story short, local gaming supplements LV gaming, it does not compete against it - they are different models of business. It's like movies and television - both visual media, but the experience is different.

(anybody want to guess what I do for a living? )

I'm female, but I'll take it.

Many people don't understand the difference - they think gambling is gambling is gambling.

They're all different. AC is its own unique model too.
