I may have found a house I want in NLV, but it seems to me that there isn't much in the way of shopping access. I read through the 10 page NLV thread and all I got from it is that there's a lonely new Kohl's up there and Aliante Station may open soon. Has there been much progress since then?

Living just south of Sahara/Decatur has granted me access to tons of places to shop, plus easy access to everywhere in the Valley. How do you NLVer's see your city coming along in this respect?

Asides for the far SW part of the valley, NLV is the area for future growth.
Centennial & Bruce is the geographical center to give you an idea of how much more area is available for building
That said, across from the Kohl's they are building a Target and a Home Depot.
There are some shope along Craig, mainly a Ross an Old Navy and a Sams Club. Many more shops can be found along the border with Las Vegas on Decatur just north of the beltway. There you can find a Stein Mart, Best Buy, Walmart and Costco. A new Fresh N Easy just opened on Commerce and Centennial. More shops are expected to move in as the population increases. Park Highlands is in the beginning stages and once complete it is suppose to be much larger community than Aliante. We might not have all the choices, but they are good enough for most things.

There is more than enough shopping in my area and close by to keep me happy. And i'm in Aliante. We have 2 supermarkets close by, restaurants, a couple of taverns, the casino will be opening in november.
I like the shopping up at 215/Decatur, and now they added a "Salad Creations" which helps me not miss Sweet Tomatoes so much.
It will be nice when the new Target gets built and other stores in that location next to the beltway at 215/Decatur just south of the Best buy/Costco shopping center.

I'm also near Aliante and am happy with the shopping here except that there is no mall close by. I however have lived near malls in other cities and have found the traffic can be horrible (especially around Christmas) and sometimes they bring in some rough crowds. I don't mind traveling a bit for a good mall!

how do you know how fast park highlands will be completed or even if it will be completed? there are talks right now about Inspirada (same developer) being cancelled or not being as built out as it was planned...

Salad Creations is new. It's in the Best buy shopping center on Decatur/215, between Walgreens and Subway. A Best mattress is to the left of it. You can make custom salads, order house salads, wraps, homemade soup. I like that the food isn't over saturated with salt like too many places. It's nice and fresh food at very good prices. A good sized salad is $4.99.

There is a nice inside eating area, plenty of tables with salt and pepper grinders, serve yourself fountain drinks, clean restrooms. You can also take it to go. I've dined in plus take out.
Check it out and tell your friends.
