I moved to LV November 2007 and began looking for work in February 2008. After 4 solid months of searching/applying/following up I gave up! My background is finance/lending (20 years experience including 10 years of management experience) which made it almost impossible to even get an interview because of the lack of jobs and the amount of competition.
I just moved back to Seattle and have already landed a great job as a branch manager of a large credit union!
I really think my timing was off based on my background..Others will have better luck than me based on the field they work in.
Good luck!!

I'm not asking for a 6 figure income or anything outrageous. Just a reasonable salary or hourly wage and 40 hours a week. Anyone with advice would be great, I'm so frustrated! Are there any temp agencies that actually work?

I also agree w/ the folks above...I've only been here 6 weeks and havent had a complaint yet...There is always something to do...I can gamble if I please, I've seen a few shows, eaten a few good dinners and have had a good time doing both "local" and "tourist" things...I really am enjoying myself here and all you regulars on this board have helped with the transition...Thanks again guys

Hello Everyone!

billeethekid

I don't think Libra81 is hiding anything. I had that problem and I have a BA degree/minor with a military background, "Honorary", more than 7 years of experience on each jobs, and etc. Employer's here in Albany, GA don't recognize military experience as being helpful, like I thought it would. A Secretary at the Department of Labor implied that my 7 year military experience don't add up to four years of manufacturing experience and it had to be in the last 4 years. I have more than 8 years of manufacturing experience at one job, alone. It was not in the last four years because, I was prior military. Kelly's agency personnel told me that my over 6 years of Administrative experience didn't count because, I was in the military and it only counts unless it was a civilian job. It is just who they want to hire, at that time. My advice is too keep looking because, eventually, it would be worth the wait. At least, you are working. I was told that if you have more experience/education than the person that is doing the hiring could cause them not to hire you. Don't quote me on that and please let me know if I'm wrong because, it is hear-say.

Keep your head up and don't give up.
