William Harrah, a "johnny-come-lately"??? For your information, he opened his first casino in Nevada on October 30, 1937------1937--------1937!!! Boyd came in 1941, Seigal in 1945, and Binion in 1947. For the early years, Reno dominated the market-------with Harrah, Smith, Gross, etc. setting the standard for Nevada entertainment. For many, many decades, Harrah's was the industry standard, which others hoped to attain.

Default Too many statists

If you mean "leftist", Vegas is getting more leftist with every Californian refugee. "Liberal" use to mean libertarian, and unfortunately Vegas is getting less and less so. More taxes, government programs and regulations, less individual freedom.

It's why the real estate crash makes me happy.

So VERY, VERY true. The term "liberal" is becoming more, and more equal to "socialist". This is my problem with LV; it was always very LIBERAL---live and let live, if you will; while in recent years it has become, more rules, more government, and a loss of sight for what made LV successful, and unique.

Yes, Harrah was a Reno guy, I did not bring this up. Both nothern Ca, and northern Nv have always wished indepenence from their southern counterparts. If I remember correctly, William Harrah was long dead, and buried before they took over the Holiday. To call William Harrah a "newcomer" in any Nv arena is false.

The reason those cities are expensive is because they are taxed to death by liberals (meaning socialists, not libertarians) for their welfare state.

Come on Sheriff. If you keep talking like that you and I will start to agree on everything.

It couldn't have been said better. Thank you.

Comeon guys. It is a distant suburb of Los Angeles. That is how it is.

I suspect there are more relocated Californians than natives by a good bit.

Eventually it will become more and more of that style as the population of Las Vegas overwhelms the rest of the state. It is only a matter of time.
