Wow, history..and you mention investing in yourself.

I hate to break it to you, but a B.A. in History basically means you will put yourself four years into debt to do pretty much nothing.

Sounds like, from your other posts, you want to have a Lexus, meet women, go to a lot of strip clubs, and spend a lot of money.

You should really re-examine your choice of majors, there is big GAP here with who you want to be and what you want to do and what you are studying.

We had one for a bit when I lived in CA. Her name was Putana.

TB: You're too late, Lex has left the building. Where in Japan are you? When I die, I want my ashes split between Akihabara and a Anna Miller's.

I'm north of Tokyo a few hours...kind of boring part in Japan. But it's still Japan, so it's still REAL good.

Kimba, I am sorry to hear that your daughter is so homesick. My kids were when we first got here but they love it now. I think a lot had to do with the fact that all of them were here. It would have been tough to leave any kids behind. I did have to leave my son's grave in Michigan which is tough at certain times of the year when we had little traditions that we would do there. We used to always put a tree up by it and his friends would put ornaments on it every year!!

We actually thought of having him moved out here but decided against it for many reasons. The main one being that Michigan was where he was born and died so it really is where he belongs.

I really wish we could have gotten our daughters together, I think they would have been good friends having that Michigan bond!!

Good luck and enjoy those grandbabies!

Congrats!

I have a question for you. My question is since you already closed on the house, are you now making the payments or do you wait until you physically move in? Reason behind my question, is that my family is moving in May and I want to buy a house. I do not want to make payments for 5 months on a house Im not living in. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but all these homebuying terms are new to me.

You will be making payments on your new home about a month and a half or so after closing, depending on when your mortgage funds and records. How mortgage payments work is interest is paid in arrears, which means that you don't pay the payment for the month ahead but instead for the month that just passed. For example, if you closed on 12/15/2008 your first payment would not be due until 02/01/2008. Prepaid interest would be paid (non-recurring closing cost) from 12/15-12/31. No payment in January due to how mortgage interest is paid, and first payment in February covering January's principal and interest.

That being said, IMO there is no reason to close on a home 5 months prior to your move. Maybe a month or two at most.
