What are some of your opinions on the place?

I have seen some of the plans and it looks like it will be a very modern innovative casino, it;s just the area that it's in seems a little underdeveloped (although I'm sure that will change in a couple years) Do you think it will fare well? It seems like the promoting the heck out of it with that hot air balloon at night and it doesn't even open until march of 09.

Just wanted to get some local opinions on the company, what they are like to work for and etc...

well, Marnell also built the Rio, and isn't MGM Mirage now part owner of the "M"?

they are supposedly building a nice mall there to...

the area to the north and west isn't too underdeveloped, the south point needs some good competition and so does the Silverton...

The MGM infused a $160mil loan, which if not paid in something like 18 months, will give MGM a 50% equity stake in the project. Expect this loan to be paid in full, as neither party wants a partner.

Marnell Sr. built and ran the Rio. M is Marnell Jr's project.

My wife worked at the Rio when Marnell Sr. ran it and he did a really good job. It was very profitable and most of the employees were treated very good and were happy. Once Harrah's took over it all changed. If Marnell Jr. is anything like the senior then I would expect M to do pretty well, although I still think that the location coupled with the focus on the locals makes it a little more risky (too far out for a locals casino).

Exactly right on every level. But HIGH risk does tend to equal HIGH profits. The Marnell's are in the LV "mix", of both construction, and the entrepreneur side of things. Strange as the location seems, don't expect anything less than huge success from Marnell.

i don't think its too far out...but they will have a new advantage over the south point as being the farthest south casino on LVBS in Las Vegas...they will be the first thing a Californian will see when they get here...

a little different, does Jean have a mall or a big local clientele to support it?

The M will have both...

I am excited about that casino opening. My home is down that way and I hope it somehow helps increase the value. We'll see.

I believe the M will be a huge success. I have done research on the Marnell family before I applied for the job and read only positive things. I am eagerly awaiting my first day on property and can't wait to be part of the grand opening. Success of a company is based on how well management treats their employees and being treated well makes employess strive to help the company profit. One hand washes the other. It was such an extensive interview process (4 to be exact) they are sure to be getting the best of the best which will help the company succeed no matter what shape the ecomony is in right now. People will travel near or far depending how the employess make the guest feel. People go where they feel they are cared about and aren't there just to pay a company's payroll. Little touches go a long way in making the guest feel special. Kudos to the Marnell family and to all they stand for. Im proud to be part of the Marnell family.
