I guess I am shocked at how low the utilities are in Las Vegas. In my area, my rental (single family) the water/sewer bills are minimum $80.00/month and go up based on usage as this is metered. Trash is $20.00/month and gas is never less than $60.00/month in the summer and is much higher in the winter.
I didn’t know utilities were so inexpensive in Las Vegas.
There is an organization that assists with renters rights in Clark County. Is it Southern Nevada Housing Authority?

I agree with airics. Does not sound bad. Ours in a reasonably big single story electric only home runs a minimum or $300 to around $600 in high summer. And my experience your cost is not out of line for a small place in Las Vegas.

If you want to check it out you might try...

Or google it. There are 3 or 4 more.

I would not get carried away. You are actually reasonably cheap...

Water/sewer sound reasonable but $60/mth for gas in the summer!?!? There must be a gas leak somewhere.

Now the water is so hot in this place it could send someone to the burn unit should they fill a bath and fall in.
So I am looking at this bill and adding it all up and then double it (since management pays 50%) and my jaw dropped. Looking at this bill and doubling it means the water and sewage bill at our complex is more than $10k a month.
Being that this is an over 55 community I don’t know if they (the other tenants) are just not paying attention
To the bills or what. The few I have talked to had no idea. So during this process I realized that one of two things must be happening.
1. The there has been a mistake in the billing where instead of taking the bill amount and breaking it into quarters they are actually billing that amount monthly.
Or......
2. Someone is knowingly stealing money from people under false pretenses or inflated pricing.

Now I am not sure what to do next.

What are my rights in this subject and how do I get supporting data to either prove or disprove my suspicions?

I am looking for some assistance if you can help me out.
TBH it doesn't sound too unreasonable. I don't know what the tariffs are for a large complex, but for an SFR sewer comes out to about $21/mth, water about $35, and heating gas has a $15 minimum monthly fee for SFR that ranges from about $23/mth to $85+ in the winter in my own home.

Where water temp is concerned, if the place has older dishwashers the water temp needs to be about 136F minimum to work effectively, which is enough to scald you. Even the newer (allegedly) 120F machines work much, much better at 130F+. Also, if they have a tank that can't keep up, the heater may be set higher to keep up with demand.

Its possible that the place has mixing valves to keep the temp at 120F that aren't working but old places (1980s and earlier) wouldn't have these at all.

A little advice if you're in an older place with a central heater that's very hot (like 160F) is to turn the cold on first and then add the hot to it.

It might be lower sometimes, but gas water heater and range are year-round use. You don’t even want to know what the gas bill was in winter before we installed new double-pane windows and replaced the warped siding. Scary.

Hahaha... I grew up in Upstate, NY. Heating with wood or pellets wasn't uncommon due to the obscenely high gas and oil prices. Imagine going to bed at 85F and waking up at 35F with a 3 floor walk down to the woodstove at 4:30am every night or even twice a night, all 7 months of winter.

^ Aw hell no!

I'm nearing the end of the second month of my six month lease on a 2BR/2BA apartment. When I signed the lease they said it was $1244/mo plus $50/mo for water and garbage. I've never heard anyone split it up like that before; why not just say it's $1294/mo? At first I thought $50/mo was kind of high for water and trash. Then I noticed that the apartment complex has 32 dumpsters which are each emptied twice a week. I wonder if it's only $25/mo for the one bedroom units, or $75/mo for the three bedroom units. Hmm

We installed a super-clean and efficient wood-burning insert in the fireplace and use that quite a bit as well. The gas bill is 1/4 what it was before the new windows, but I love heating with a wood-burning stove.

The heat radiating out is so comforting compared to the dry heat of the furnace and the stove has an all-glass front so I can watch the flames....it's all about the comforting ambiance...although I can heat the entire house with it if I want to....

Up here 'in the sticks' of Northern Nevada electricity can sometimes be spotty during big storms, so I like to have a heat source as back-up and to use for cooking as well if needed...about 30 years ago the gas line into Northern Nevada was somehow cut and we were without gas for around a week...traumatizing lol...

Single family homes have charge of ~$250/year for sewer and $16/month for garbage. Water bill is about $15 in the winter, quite a bit more in the summer if you have to water. Doesn't matter how big or small the house is. So seems like $50 is right about on target.

If you prefer, just call it your apartment's resort fee
