I was in my car. I just passed the Hoover Dam and was steadily approaching Las Vegas. It was night, clear skies, cool winds. I was tired and anxious to get to my hotel - the Luxor. Along came a slight hill and as I was driving up it I noticed just how barren and scary my setting was. On either side lay sand and the timeless sinister looking mountains. But when I reached the top of the hill, I saw the most beautiful sight I had ever seen in my life. I saw millions of lights as far as the I could see. I saw a city vibrant full of life. I saw Las Vegas. This moment is priceless to me and I will never forget the feeling I had atop that hill. They say that life is not measured by number of breaths we take but by how many moments take our breath away, and luckily for me, I am fortunate enough to crawl in my bed at night and remember this blissful moment in my life.

You know there is not a picture in this world or an expression I could make to reinact the feeling I had atop that hill. No words could ever do that moment in my life justice. I just hope for you that you have moments like this in your life.

I remember something very similar a few years back when I first saw the lights around midnight coming up the 15. It was something that I'll never forget as well.

Lynn...Thanks for your outstanding contribution. Some people just make me shake my head.

Something tells me that those lights might have been blinking red and blue and clearly viewed in your rear mirror. Did the trooper do the breathalyzer on you?

First time I saw that (a much smaller version) was over 44 years ago, and I never have gotten tired of seeing it either.

My wife 'axed' me the other day what I thought the first time I saw Las Vegas. I told her I thought it was what I'd always been looking for...it felt like home from day one.
